The latest in the line of the succesful Audi Le Mans cars has been unveiled; the third model with a Diesel engine and the first closed car for a long time. The engine is smaller again; the R10 had a V12, the R15 a V10 and the R18 has a 3.7 liter V6 with possibly a hybrid system in the future. As for the looks.... :kilroy: BTW the shark fin is mandatory from 2011 to stop cars from taking off when spinning (Like Stephane Ortelli did at monza)

Does look the business...
Just how much performance is dictated by regulation can be seen by comparing them with Adrian Newey's balls-out Red Bull Ultimate X1 racer

0-200mph in six and a half seconds...eight and a quarter g in the corners...I'd always wondered where the limits were.

There are about a dozen of those simulators at the Viper Research facility at VIR (Virginia International Raceway). I helped with the iRacing simulation in design of the track using Bob's Track Builder (the full version, they paid for it) for two years. They had cars with sensors to register every little nook and cranny in the track. It is unbelievable how real it feels in a simulator like that with a program like iRacing.

If the driver's hands move in the simulation, it would be hard to tell the difference. The driver in both is a Skip Barber instructor and the car is a Skip Barber Formula Mazda.
