Is that already tone-mapped Panther? Doesn't look a bit like an HDR image, those things are ugly until tone-mapped.

Love that airplane! :applause:

Sony NEX in-camera HDR takes up to 6 shots at different exposures, blends them together and gives you 2 images, one HDR, and the other non-HDR from the first shot settings...

Here's the NON-HDR shot straight out of camera...

Definitely prefer the non-HDR version. The ground looks awful in the HDR one. It makes the details and texture of the grass and woodchips-type material look sorta embossed and oversharpened. The NON- has much better contrast and colors. :wavey:

It looks as if the camera tone maps the HDR image by itself, offering no controls over the image output. In reality, I never show y'all an HDR image, can't, the are in 32-bit depth and RAW format and cannot be saved in any web format. The images you see from me and all others are HDR images that have been tone mapped, decompressed, or fused. Actual HDR images are ugly mothers, you wouldn't want to show them to your mother.

Hmmm...
I prefer the in camera HDR version myself :wiggle:

That being said, what I don't like is how the NEX has a tendancy to overexpose - I'm still playing catch up with my settings in this area...
