I am still run the RC version Build 7100, mainly because I found $200+ a bit steep for an upgrade software. . .but I'm experiencing more and more problems with the OS because I have simply been backdating the system date to keep it running, so updates and other automatic system checks and such are no longer working.

Can someone point me to any deals available on the Win7 Ult. Update? The lower the better, lol:salute:

Is there a reason you are particular with Ultimate? From what I see, there are two options for Win 7 Ultimate that you cannot get with Home Premium or Professional and that is BitLocker (ability to encrypt your files, so if anyone steals them they cannot read them) and the ability to change between 35 different languages (Bilingual, trilingual, 35lingual?). Why not save yourself 20 bucks off the get-go and just go with Professional. I even think Professional is a bit much for the home user.

The RC version is Ultimate and in order to do the upgrade you must use the Ultimate Upgrade. You can't go from the Win7 Ultimate RC Beta to Home Premium or Professional, it must be Ultimate.

I was hoping to bypass having to back up a couple hundred gig of files, programs, etc and just do the upgrade instead. I've never been successful in doing any backups where I didn't eventually end up reinstalling every last program from scratch because one way or another they never work after being restored.

Thanks for link though, those are excellent prices. I went to Best Buy and a few others today and you can't find anything for those prices in the stores.:salute:

Sorry, I'm already using my free (MSDNAA) licenses for 7 Pro ENG. :d

Also, I'd really stick to the Professional version. It has everything I want and need.
