After reading some positive reports on another forum I tried the 10.11 drivers and have noticed an improvement. I had been using 10.4 with my 4870x2 since they were released in April and not found any improvements with anything in between but I will be sticking with 10.11 from now on. The aircraft in the Preview screen have jagged edges but I can live with that as in the game and especially in cloudy weather everything is pretty smooth.
I only fly in fullscreen mode so I can't speak for windowed.

Worth a try I think.

While chasing down some graphics glitches which I thought were driver related but turned out to be bad ram or a new 5870 card I ran across these modded drivers on Guru3d. These work the best for me.

Nothing however gave me the added 25% boost and elimination of stutters more than the Jesus tweaks.

Finally consistant vsync for Ati without running a outside program.

In [GRAPHICS] (not DISPLAY) add this:
ForceFullScreenVSync=1

I am also running Vista 64 on a i7 machine.

"APP 10.10 is modded for Vista, you wouldn't see the difference between 10.10 and 10.10e anyway, it's mainly fix for HD6xxx + ****ty CAP Profiles. The real difference you'll see is the IQ and performance mods. You have them all in APP 10.10."

I double checked and that the one I am using.

It seems to be VERY important to get rid of every trace of old Ati drivers which is a good practice to do any way. I admit during my driver testing I usually use to let Caalyst unistall them. There is a extensive readme on how to get every trace of old drivers out of your hard drive.

Thats driver sweeper which I have used and they suggest also. Like I said the provided readme file in the driver download has great directions on how do this.
