Hi everyone. I wonder if you could help me out? I make my living as a sculptor and for the past couple of years have been making portraits of legendary racing drivers. I have decided to branch out into military figures and am currently working on Rommel . I have attached a picture for anyone who might be curious. For my next project I want to do Galland but I am having trouble finding decent sized photos to work from. I have found the sim racing community very helpful to me in the past so it seems logical to ask you guys if you have any head shots that I might use.
My website is here www.peterclose.com (http://www.peterclose.com) if you are interested in having a look.
cheers :)

Hello Peter, welcome to the Outhouse !
That sculpture of Rommel looks amazing ! :jawdrop:
Good luck with your sculpture of Galland.
P.s. Can you post some shots of the historic racing drivers here or in the racing forum (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/forumdisplay.php?f=17) ?
I'd love to see a few of those !

Thanks for the kind words guys.
Ickie, the cost should be the same as the drivers at £185 although I am thinking of making them a smaller edition of 350 instead of the usual 650. Try to ramp up the exclusivity a bit :) . What you see here is the clay original. I have a few little ends to tidy up today then I will be making the mould and producing the hard copies in cold-cast bronze.
Ferror, thanks for the invitation. I have posted a few pictures in your F1 forum. More on my site in the Legends of Racing section www.peterclose.com (http://www.peterclose.com)

Pauke! Pauke! has cornered the market in Galland pictures, but I thought you might be interested in this. It shows him a few years after the War visiting the White Hart at Brasted, a pub which was popular with the Biggin Hill pilots.
He is standing in front of a famous blackout curtain signed by those men. The others in the photo are Tony Bartley, Brian Kingcome, Neville Duke and Bob Stanford Tuck (who still has a very lean & hungry look and is not, it seems, as keen on being photographed as Galland & Bartley appear to be).
I hate to find myself agreeing with Hitler (!), but do think that Galland was an accomplished self-publicist in a fashion which was ill-becoming to a Luftwaffe officer, with or without Goebbels' propaganda machine!
Galland's finest moment was the Channel Dash, February 12 1942 when he organised air cover for Scharnhorst and Gneisenau as they broke out of Brest and sailed right under the noses of the Royal Navy and RAF. Also, January 1945 when he stood up to Goering & Hitler over the failure of Operation Bodenplatte & misuse of jets, which cost him his job as Inspector General of Fighters. He was lucky to get away with his life then, if you think of what happened to the likes of poor Udet and maybe even Moelders...
It would be fascinating to know what drink he is holding in the picture (my guess is a large Cognac) ;) .
