I was at the news stand and picked up a copy of ...I think Aeroplane Magazine.......
In it there was a good spread on the Fairchild C-82.
Which prompted me to get back in CFS2 and annoy everyone here..........
I see Obio has a C-119 thread over a FS2004
So..........

I was wondering if the above cartoon was getting lost with the latest SOH CFS2 group........
Age and Country of origin maybe a little skewed since..............1965
So..........for a recap .......and to put some chat down.......
1965 chararcters speaking in above cartoon
Jimmy Stewart --- Frank Towns - speaking
Sir Richard Attenborough -- Lew Moran - speaking
Hardy Kruger ---Heinrich Dorfmann ---- Hatari reference and speaking
George Kennedy ---- Cool hand Luke reference
Ernest Borgnine ----McHale's Navy ...Wild bunch reference
C-82 Packet
2004
Dennis Quaid ---Frank Towns
C-119 Flying Boxcar
I was going for a C-82 thread .....Obio has a fs2004 for C-119
or we can go C-119 ...........
and the guy in the Black and White cartoon was from a 1950's military magazine or newspaper.........for what PjMack is reference too???.........Not Dennis Quaid or Jimmy Stewart

There is a an old none insignia .......faded one .........but thats not what I was looking for.

Nice recap of the movies Rockster. I enjoyed both versions of the tale. I really enjoyed the sound track of the second version.
There is a nice C-82 Packet on display at the McChord Air Base museum.

These are shots of the actual panel from the movie.........
In these frames Jimmy Stewart is dealing with a Port Side Engine Failure
And
A Emergency Landing .....with putting gears down???
Is he........
Just pushing buttons...........or really simulating a emergeny engine shutdown and landing???
Is it really a C-82 panel or just a dummy Hollywood panel???
Remember ...........Jimmy Stewart had input into airplane selection for the movie and he was a pilot

I can remember thinking about how they got around the gull wing issue in the 1965 version....
the 2004 version attempted to a more realistic approach.............
I haven't seen the 2004 version of the film........just clips over at YouTube.

Yes.............there was a previous FS2004 Heather Sherman ........Daisuke Yamamoto
version of the C-82 Arabco and Flight of the phoenix...........
An excellent ............FS2004
I did a CFS2 version.........this was prior to proficient FS9 to CFS2 conversion
The FS2004 version had a High frame rate (fps choker) for my old PentiumII
and
It didn't allow for CFS2 mission builder objects etc............
I like to go .............BOOOOOOOOOOM now and then..............and FS2004 doesn't go .....BOOM
(see Daisy Cutter)
and ..........many future CFS2 parts have come from the FSDS model I released
(I have to translate for PJMack............for those new to the saga)
I still like Flight of the Phoenix............and I saw c-82 in the Aeroplane Mag...........and I like flying my own model in CFS2 ....I still don't own FS2004....it was expensive when FS2004 came out and about the time the Sherman team released thier version........and appreciated the c-82 much more ...since I had to build it from scratch.......
FS9 to CFS2 conversions are great.................but I highly recommend building your own favorite aircrafts...........and you can avoid the Conversion Restrictions and Prohibitions........
However, if you want a better C-82 and phoenix, I can highly recommend you use the FS2004 to CFS2. It runs great on the newer computers.
It has a great panel..........for the above panel questions. The Aerodynamics are probably excellent to go witht the panel controls.................I haven't used it since I tried to convert and fly in CFS2.
and........I have not seen the 2004 version of Flight of the phoenix.......just clips..........
I still can't let go of the old classic.
Question is ..........do you chat at the CFS2 forum or over at the FS2004??????
