Hello,
I presume that you have FsX / Acceleration.
First make a safegard copy of your aircraft.cfg under another name. Then edit the aircraft.cfg file and
add the following sections.
[TailHook]
tailhook_length=4 ; //feet
tailhook_position= -12.5, 0, -0.8 ;//feet longitudinal,lateral,vertical positions -> datum
cable_force_adjust=1
[launch_assistance]
launch_bar_pivot= 16.3, 0, -4.0
launch_bar_lug= 17.3, 0, -4.8
These examples are taken from Restauravia Zephyr. But you will find similar sectiions on the FA-18. You will have to addjust the parameters of these sections in order to fit them with the geometry of the aircraft model. It is a trials and errors tedious process, so do not worry if it is not working at the first trial.
Have a good day

A simple way to calculate the launch assistance coordinates:
1. Take the nosegear longitudinal and vertical coordinates from section [contact_points] :
e.g. point.0=1, 9.85, 0.00, -6.10, 1574.803, 0.0, 0.782, 42 etc.
2. Calculate the [launch_assistance] coordinates as follows:
launch_bar_pivot= nosegear longitudinal, 0.0, launch_bar_lug vertical + 1
launch_bar_lug = launch_bar_pivot longitudinal +1.5, 0.0, nosegear vertical +0.5
With the example above that wiould be:
launch_bar_pivot= 9.85, 0.0, -4.60
launch_bar_lug = 11.35, 0.0, -5.60
This will work in most cases.
A helpful little tool to visualize the contact points and also pivot and lug is Showmarkers (I got it from http://lc0277.nerim.net but unfortunately the site is no longer there it seems so I attached it:

RCBCO-30 (http://www.flightsim.com/file.php?cm=SEARCH1&fname=rcbco-30*) by Rob Barendregt works well too.

Hi Folks
Lamont Clarke's apparently changed ISPs.
His replacement site is at http://lc0277.gratisim.fr/
You'll find his WhisPlacer, AICarriers, ShowMarkers, FSX Log book editor, FSX scenery objects catalogue, etc. there.
