I wanted to edit the fuselage texture from the great O. Fischer JU 52 model ... the 1938 Olympic texture....to add back in the swastika on the tail...., but my photoshop wont open it. is there some special program we need to open BMPs from plane files?

some of the other planes textures seem to open fine...

here is the fuselage texture....

as this plane was originally fs9 maybe i need to learn how to convert textures between 9 and X...?? i seem to remember there is a difference...

thanks...

Open with DXTBMP and then choose photoshop as your editior. Double click the texture when loaded in DXTBMP and it will then open in photoshop for editing. After editing is finished, save. Then in DXTBMP, refresh after edit and save to the needed format.

Note that it is already a .DDS/FSX format

OK, followed directions...opened in photoshop did the edit....then saved back into the texture folder as BMP with same name overwriting original BMP. Opened in DXTBMP and saved again.

Could you check my work and see if i did it right? i was not sure if i had to do anything about alpha channels and or how to make sure it was saved back into the original format other than just selecting BMP...

thanks so much for the help,..once i learn this i can do more repaints....

It looks to be fine. Although you forgot to export the alpha channel so that it could be used after editing (my fault as I failed to mention that)

I have fixed it for you. Use mine ;)
