This morning CR-1 Software released the new Aeronca Champ package!

It is available on the CR-1 website:

This announcement is an 'advance' notice for SOH members -- release to the major retailers will follow in a day or two so if you want to beat the rush, get it now!

The new FSX-only CR1-Software Aeronca Champ is delivered with the following model variants:

I had the opportunity to own an Aeronca Chief (Float version) 16 years ago. It was a lovely little airplane. I used it to build up my flight time prior to switch to the twin engine IFR training.
Nice to see some champ land on FSX.

I think I jumped in too soon. I've paid and am waiting to be redirected to the merchant's page...for ten minutes now and no e-mail.
After another 10 minutes with no progress I ended the process so it'll be interesting to see when I get a receipt and a download link.

I still have no e-mail and no receipt!

One of the most common problems of this sort is that corporate, 'bulk' emails get grabbed and tossed into a "spam" folder... check yours... and if no luck there, drop us a note on the "Contact Us" page of the website. BTW, duplicate orders usually get caught and corrected in the process.

I always check my spam folder these days as this has happened before. I've sent a message to CR1 contact us.

It's been a pleasure and a privilege Tom and Rob. I should have had at least three more paints done, but set backs to my health forced me down a week. I am glad to say I am doing much better and taking things a little easier now.

The final rendition flies like a Champ too, as LilSki helped with some of the flight dynamics and others famous in the sim community did likewise. And if you like the Champ, wait until you see what Tom and CR1 have next.

Nice little plane,but there is a problem with the Trigear,it acts like it has way to much up trim.If you don't force the stick forward on takeoff the plane will do a complete loop.None of the other versions do this at all.

I noticed that with the tri-gear as well. Started rolling down the runway and it shot into the air without pulling back on the stick at all.

I wonder how prone the RW Tri-Traveller was to tipping back - it looks as if it is already angled quite far back.

I'm not sure what happened but I just flew the final tri and it doesn't fly like the one I sent in. It should not act like that.

UPDATE: I sent Tom the correct files and he is testing them and will have a free update on the site soon. Something must have happened in the packing process and the wrong file was put in place for the tri.

Tom just informed me that he is working on the airfile right now.
It will be on the Aeronca sales page at the bottom for free download in a couple of days.

I haven't had a chance to fly the final version but I'm sure sure they fly the same as when I sent off the FDEs ;)

I am building a new machine tonight and it will be the first thing I try when I get it up and running!

I upgraded my computer the other day with a new MB, RAM, and Processor. My old setup was never reliable for some reason and it locked up numerous times while working on the air files. I decided to do some upgrades so I have a nice fast and reliable PC to start working on some flightsim stuff again.

Was playin with paints in the package (mix with different models)If you Please, is there any way to get a set of plain aluminum floats (no colors) so as to mix and match with paints in the package.

FUN STUFF...

PS No float .dds in paint kit I was going to see if it had plain alum

Right-click on the image below and click View Image and you should have a full-size 1024 X 1024 wire frame image of the texture for the floats DC. On about every photo I have seen of Champs with floats, the floats were unfinished metal with what appeared to be black anti-corrosive front pieces and bottoms. Save this as a guide layer when painting the floats.

Cazzie Thank you for your help it is always appreciated... at this time I don't have an understanding of painting, layers, etc. and the programs needed to do it

I've asked for photoshop for Xmas and we'll see what Santa brings
I've heard of a free version... that I might play with and learn a bit

any idea on the freeware program name for painting

Roger has you covered. Of the two, I like Paint.NET better. Both will allow layers and the ability to save in either .psp (PaintShopPro) or .psd (Photoshop) format.

I agree in one, for few money we got a rich variety of airplane versions.

Although the price is really reasonable, this is not freeware and therefore a comparison with similar software like A2A Piper Cub , FR Piper Super Cub or even the old Real Air Scout must be allowed.

- Aeronca Champ Gauges are great!

But I do not understand why CR1-Software developers set wrong priorities in texturing:
- Thus the pilot figure is texturized with not less than 13 bitmaps of 5MB each, while the panel only got a simple texture of about 300x330 pixel on a 2048x2048 texture!
(Where does the user look most of the time, when flying?)
- The pilot seat consists of a 2048x2048 pixel large piece leather texture.
- The outer skin of the airframe is decently drawn however without any details and any shade. And bump mappings and specular effects also are missing.

My personal resume:
This software is generally standard, but does not meets the requirements of the ambitious armchair pilots, who wants to buy an overall good package, even for a higher price.

No Laughing allowed and this repaint in NO WAY reflects the CR1 aircraft

With some reading and help from here at the outhouse I was able to put some paint on the aircraft and get the floats to a one float fits all... 2206922070

I always looked at repaints as art
I'm leaning how to apply paint differently... reading alittle then testing
I have a lot of questions on this subject is there a good place to ask

all markings and from original CR1 navy paint (I hope this is allowed)
trial and error is very slow

"Bend" forward a little so that you can see the switch, then try again. ctrl+backspace
The original wasn't exactly designed with ergonomics in mind, they do have their quirks. We tried to convey that in our model...
