There has been some excitement lately about a new CR1 Software Project.
We are pleased to announce that the Aeronca Champ set is just a week or two away from being released.
It will be a large set of different models:

a taildragger,
a taildragger with wheelpants,
a taildragger with tundra tires,
a ski version,
a float version
a tricycle version and
a tryicycle version with wheelpants.

On top of that every version will be available with a normal size tail and with the large tail often seen on Aeroncas.
All in all you will get 14 different models, each of them with a fully animated pilot and with a nice assortment of liveries.
As a special feature the interior textures will be interchangeable to get different colour schemes according to your own preference.
For those less adventurous the interior textures will be tastefully matched to the different exterior liveries by default.

The price has been set with the present economic climate in mind and is sure to please everyone.

In the meantime we are already well under way with our next project, the Ford Tri-Motor.
As you can see, the emphasis is on detail..

Did you base your Champ off a particular aircraft? Or did you combine elements from many Champs?

Hi Poligoon
I can see you live in Toronto: I've got my Private there and I would like very much to get an FSX
photoreal version of Buttonville Airport (I'm not good enough to try and model it myself):salute:
Do you know of anyone interested in doing it ??? You, may be ??:wiggle:
BTW very good work of yours: sure I'm going to get them (Champ and Ford Tri) once available

Thank you all for your kind words!

Here is a message from Tom I received by e-mail:

"Hey Goon, The Aeronca is finished, over the last 2 days the air files have been finished, the final touch ups on paints have been done. The model was enhanced even more. The Documentation is finished, and now its up to the web designer and the Movie builder. As soon as those tow dudes are done its released. If not on Wednesday of this coming week for sure it will be available by the weekend from our home site and then from all of our approved retailers. Here is a screen shot of the Cr1 house colors."

Back to the Ford...
The exterior on the first model version is just about done.

polygoon
November 16th, 2010, 18:20
Okay folks, the work on the Ford has progressed as you can see.
Tom informed me that the sound files will be pure music.
When in idle, it seems that the engines would die at any moment as it should be with those cantankerous radials. And when the throttles are opened they start to purr.

Norman, the Tri-Motor is looking really spectacular! I'm a big fan of those smoky old things. To really get the benefit of your modeling and texturing in screenshots, however, you might want to compress the jpegs a bit less. The engine shot above, in particular, is so heavily artifacted that it's hard to make out the details.

Norman, I did a PW-2800 for the P-61 that was not even close to the detail of your engine...and it was still a lot of work! What you have done is amazing! :salute:

ive a dumb question....im set up for twin engine operations,i could go and make my yoke throttle work...but that would be somewhat akward to work while flying....can the middle engine be ,slaved so to speak,to say the left engine? i have the ch products throttle quads,,oh heck....now that ive fixed my rudder problem i may just reinstall both quads and all my 4 engiened honeys.........

Hmm, this could prove promising. The champ could be fun, it's out now right? Any word on how it handles?

You have fsupic? There you can "slave" engine #1 to #2 . Either one should be the middle engine, I guess.

@N2056

Thank you for your kind words :jump:
Very judicious use of textures has a lot to do with the overall effect and can easily double the perceived poly count.

@Tracon

Yes, the Aeronca has been out for quite a while and has also received some updates on the airfile.
I personally love flying it although I rarely enjoy flying my own models.
By the time they're released, I have spent way too much time on them and just want to get away from them as far as possible...LOL...
