A great book for all you Korean War people (you know who you are.) The true life events that inspired much of the naritive of The Bridges of Toko-Ri and many scenes from Men of the Fighting Lady. Yes, an LSO actually talked down a temporarily blinded pilot. His plane was damaged when he struck a cable strung across a river to trap low flying aircraft. Both plane and pilot were back in the air within days. The true story US Naval Air in the waters off Korea. If these men weren't the "Greatest Generation," they were a close second.
