View Full Version : Pearl Harbor attack Pics

Here's a few pics of what I've been tweaking. I'm using the original PHP ships for this mission that I've tweaked a little bit. In this mission you just watch the attack which takes about 20 mins. You see torpedo planes launch torpedoes and get hits and than the bombers come in.

Frames are in the high 20's to low 30's.

I still have to fix a few things in the mission.

If there is enough interest I will release it when I finish it.

You'll be in a plane but you don't takeoff. You just use the different views in the plane.

Bob.

Don't use the archives to get them, They were re-uploaded after we lost alot of things. Go to the index,CFS2,Planes and they will be in the Japanese section and USA section. I tried to download them and it works fine.

I have downloaded the PHP2 scenery and I am very pleased with it. I would like to get the Pearl Missions. I would like to use Hickham in MB, but it is not listed. Is there an airbase entry for these fields on Oahu?

Check out Talon's Pearl Harbor Missions - they are a masterfully done, and much-needed addition to our CFS2 World! They are well-researched and immersive. They simply kick a$$! Along with Crashaz's PHP2 scenery, they are an essential part of any CFS2 install as far as I'm concerned.

Essential is right, Ghostrider.....I agree with you on this. With this kind of scenery, things seem to really come alive!

Watching it play out from the flightdeck was like actually being there...absolutely thrilling! Great screenies too, guys! Frustrating, though.......I actually took off from the carrier to have a look around, couldn't stand watching it and doing nothing any more!

Wonderful!

Hi All..........I've just started a 'standard' install for the future, thought I'd add the PHP2 stuff. I already have PHP2 in another install and it's fine. All is well in this install too..........uh, except for one little thing.

I altered the aircraft.cfg file of the AH Wildcat so I'd only have 1 plane in the hangar. I flew it fine in freeflight, but when I load any of my OAHU scenery, it says I'm missing it. What have I done wrong here, guys?

Cheers!:bump:

Du-uHHHH! Just found it, sorta. I put all the different textures back in with the original aircraft.cfg file and all is well. Still and all, that's a lotta planes just to make up scenery. It's now a case of finding out which one fits the bill.

Well only 9 people responded before I put up the PM requests. Some I already had the e-mails for. The people on the PM list and the ones I had their e-mails for I sent the missions to.

Most that responded are the ones that normally respond. As a matter of fact Ghostrider gave me some good feedback on how to enhance what I'm doing.

So in other words the silent Majority spoke by not showing any interest. This just tells me they don't want what is being worked on.

to my wee quest to keep the aircraft numbers down. I couldn't find a way to load the AH F3f without using all the textures......small price to pay for such terrific scenery, though.

The thing is, if I use it in my basic install, I can always take the aircraft out if I need to, or......use Morton's fine utility instead and keep it in, though hidden.

Cheers!

No more missions will be sent out until I do some tweaks to the ones I sent out. Plus I'm working on some others for the second wave. I also have some help now so we will see what we can do.

These missions are very time consuming and I have to use some tricks I've learned through the years to make them work right.

Hi Talon
Thankyou for thinking of me.
I only have a Hotmail email address that dont accept all formats.
I am not a player of the game as such.
I enjoy designing and updateing library objects for others to use as well as enjoying working with gmax and other design tools.
I am working on updateing the cfs library veh objects, more detail more lods and damage objects.

Don't forget to keep us informed on how it's going. How you manage to get the MB to do your bidding has always fascinated me. Thanks for this and the tons of first class stuff you have done over the years. You have shown us what is possible with a lot of work and dedication. I think all of us believe your works are all classics. I'm sure you have inspired many of our fine mission builders. Sniff, sniff... I better stop now, before I get all emotional, hee, hee. I hope ya never give up. Don't forget, ya said there is still a lot of work to be done for 1943. :salute::salute::salute::ernae:

I have 8 missions done.

1st wave- Torpedo attack on BB Row,Level bomber attack on BB Row,Val attack on Wheeler,Welch and Taylor intercept and Watch as the IJN planes attack.

2nd wave- Vals attack ships at Pearl,Kates attack Hickam and Kates attack Kaneohe MCAS.

Ghostrider has also done a mission for me where the B-17s arrive at Pearl during the attack.

Plans for other missions include,

Zero attack on Wheeler,Second intercept by Welch and Taylor,Second wave attack on Wheeler and P-36 intercept at Bellows.

There may be more but not sure yet.
