I'm looking at getting the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition and the motherboards are few to choose from at the moment.
I'll be putting my Saffire Radeon 4870 X2 2GB

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Ben

MSi 890FXA-GD70, especially if you want the full benefits of SATA III now or in the future ... though I have to say that MSi support doesn't appear to be that good

I agree with MSI 890 series board but you will be all alone if you expecting help from MSI. You might look instead at the Gigabyte 890 FXA UD5 or theASUS M4A89TD Pro if available. These boards will give you the same performance as the MSI 890 board and the support is moderately better. You will also be very disappointed with dual GPU 4870 x2 performance in FSX...pitiful is an understatement in FSX. You might look at the 5870 or higher-these were vastly improved. Harleyman can give you all the information you need on 4870 x2 performance first hand as well. They tested terribly at TechCorp except on FAR CRY original and HALO II
Ted

Gigabyte and ASUS 890 boards also have new SATA and USB3.0 now

http://techgage.com/article/gigabyte_890fxa-ud5/ The ud7 is the latest but also the most expensive of all the 890 boards.

YUP.

The 4870X2 for FSX is a dog...My ATI 3850 out performs it hands down..And thats pityful for a 60 dollar card over a 500 dollar one...

It seems the drivers needed for it to function were just never there...

It does however show movies quite nicely ... LOL

FSX likes some SLI , CrossfireX set ups..not this 4870X2 though..Not at all

I ran it unlimited, had frames over 100, till a fly went near, then it dropped into the teens and stuttered and had screen tearing...

So what video card do you suggest as I've had this card almost 2 years? I must admit it was always a struggle in FSX, but other games it was flawless in performance. Never had problems. :salute:
What about the XFX ATI Radeon HD5870 (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193_933&products_id=12716)

Thanks u-all now for MB ideas.

It really is a shame Ben because the 4870 x2 us great with almost every other game on the market...except FSX and X-Plane 9.6. The HD5870 is a much better video card. The 5900 series even more improved! If you think you may use dual video cards in the future on an AMD MB I would stick the AMD Radeon!
