View Full Version : New Lighting Configuration Files For Carenado Aircraft

I've been meaning to do something about this for long time and finally got motivated by the original post about some aircraft lights flashing too fast.
http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=42327

I love flying my Carenados, but the ones that were using the older style lighting that flashed too fast was making me nuts. :)

So just after that post I started working with the Carenados that were listed as "Spastic" in that thread.

The list:
Piper Arrow
Beech Mentor
Mooney
Cessna 182RG
Cessna 182Q/182QLR
Cessna 206

All of the .cfg file edits reference to the default FSX lighting and effects. I didn't want anyone to have to go looking for special lights. Ya already got 'em! :)

The lighting effect placement has also been corrected as much as possible on each aircraft to better match the actual location of the lights on the model.

The one light I decided not to change was the lower red flashing beacon of the Mentor. When I switch that one to a default FSX beacon, the flashing shows up inside the cockpit. This was the one case where the older style lighting actually worked better. It doesn't flash through the floor like the default beacons do.

Here's the lot. Just make sure to back up your original lighting sections, in case you don't like these.

hey !

I was just thinking about going about the task - and here you've made it a simple cut & paste job

Thanks FAC257 :salute:

Many, many thanks. The C206 looks much nicer without the ultra fast strobes.

Thanks guys!

Here's one more.

The Mooney was modeled without it's rudder mounted white nav light. It's not so bad flying in the day time, but at night I think it looks sort of odd with just wing tip lights. Since it also wouldn't look right putting a fixed lighting effect on the moving rudder, I tried out an alternative.

Looking through pics at airliners.net I found one Mooney that had a red beacon light on top of the tail in front of the rudder hinge.

Below is the same set of light configs for the Mooney, but adds a red flashing beacon on the tail. I've been flying with it for a while this afternoon and it's a bearable alternative. :)

Mooney
[lights]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 3, -2.78, -17.76, 1.75, fx_navred
light.1 = 3, -2.50, 17.78, 1.75, fx_navgre
light.2 = 4, -3.22, 0, 1.80, fx_vclightcar
light.3 = 2, -3.0, -17.88, 1.7, fx_strobe
light.4 = 2, -2.72, 17.88, 1.7, fx_strobe
light.5 = 1,-15.50, 0, 6.75, fx_beacon

Great idea,
but there is no extra switch for it.

Nice work on this. Those lights have been a pain every time I fly the Mooney.

Hi Dieter
Thank you for making me think about it a little more. I was using the default "L" key command for turning the tail beacon on and off.

Here's a couple of options for you. You can control it from either the "Strobe" or "Nav" light switch. Just use one of the following in place of the last line in that .cfg setup.

Strobe Switch:
light.5 = 2,-15.50, 0, 6.75, fx_beacon

Nav Light Switch:
light.5 = 3,-15.50, 0, 6.75, fx_beacon

Thanks for the light configs very nice
by the way
Piglet modeled the rudder mounted white nav light perfectly on his Meyers 200D :wavey:
