I seem to remember a Dash 7 with a working VC somewhere. Any one have a idea were? Before the forums update I was able to locate a thread on this.

The FS2004 version with VC, with all updates included is here: http://www.flightsimonline.com/Dash74/
It the last item listed, far right.

The direct download link is: http://www.flightsimonline.com/downloads/d7vcmdla.zip

I run this in FSX as well with a prop texture change.

Would this be the Cargo or Passenger. The VA I fly at uses the Cargo one in 2D for FSX and Fs9.

This is the passenger version. The cargo version is down the road in a much improved Dash 7 model.

Here's a few shots of the passenger version in a repaint by Marcus.

This was one of my favorite planes and I remember it well. :) What mod did you use on the props to fly her in FSX? I miss that plane.

Thank you Milton and very much looking forward to her. All my flying IRL and virtual is in the Arctic and not a day goes by without me seeing one the beautiful Dash 7's. Air Tindi being the main culprit. Virtually Markus Hellwig's Air tindi and CAF paint is a staple in my hanger. Please let us know were you got them lovely props please.

I'll be waiting... :d

(Were there ever any preview screenshots of the improved model?)

You can have what I use; it's not much but it works.

One of my favorites too. I like Markus' Newman Air paint.

Not sure if I did as the textures are not done but here are a few. Cockpit is mainly improved xml gauges. Most of the work on this was totally redoing the exterior, fuselage, nacelles, wing and flaps updates and gear. Interior is split between passengers and cargo.

Milton, will older paints still work on her?

No, although close, they will not work.

Good news! The gauges were kind of troublesome in FSX, especially the starters. Hope this improves with the new version.

Will the source files be uploaded to FFDS again?

Yes, or posted down in the Design forum here.

Excellent!

One little request though: Can the model hierarchy be preserved instead of being combined into one single part?

A long while ago I've downloaded the D7's source file from FFDS and opened it in GMax, just to find the whole model without any part hierarchy. Not the best starting point for quick modifications. :|

The gmax source you downloaded had the exterior and interior models grouped. Had you selected either and ungrouped it, the model and the part hierarchies would have been there.

That Dash 7 was my first gmax development project in January 2002, eight years ago when only a few people were starting to use gmax. No mentors, no SDK's, no one to provide tutorials, even the animation tags were unknown at that time. It was pure hell getting through that project, learning everything about modeling, part names, animating, mapping for textures, flight modeling, and project management with the team. But we had an awesome group of alpha and beta team members, real world pilots, and very talented panel gauge and texture artists. I was so motivated not to let them down, I finally persevered with my parts of the project.

Oh.

As I've said, it was a long while ago. :d

Can't wait for the new version. I'd love to turn it into a FSX native bird and shoot a few approaches into LCY or conquer the Rockies or Alps...
