I'm presenlty working with PSP v10 and have seen a lot of posts on the web touting Photoshop as the defacto painting program. Would like to know if there would be any advantage to using Photoshop over PSP?
Regards

I agree with H. For regular graphic work like gauge projects, panel BMPs, etc I still use PSP8.1. I bought PSP9 but even after applying all the patches it still doesn't work worth a toot so I'm sticking with 8.1.
My job gives me access to PhotoShop CS2 and while I use it for all of my photo post-processing, I seldom use it for graphic work. It's way out of my price range anyway if I had to buy it personally too.
PSP10 (I haven't used 11) would be the way to go for FS work.

Heck, I still use PSP7 for all of my work. Anything I've ever wanted to do in Flight Sim it's been able to handle.

I think those adobe bricks are really 'gold' ones by now. Most of the photographers I know up North use Photoshop, ( I use it for prinitng as well) a good piece of software, but not on my 'best buy of the year' list.
Think gawd for spelchequrz.

if it's for the hobby, then PSP all the way. Photoshop is better but much too expensive for an hobbyist. Now, if you've got a lot of cash to spare...

Hi guys, I'm still with PSP6! :d .. and I wouldn't trade it for anything! Better, it came bundled on a magazine, on a software giveaway! The price was simly unbeatable.
The fact is that it is so light, so easy and I know it so well (been using it for all my work since .. 1998?) that I can work it out with my eyes closed and just as fast.
I tried PSP10 a while ago .. sure it was great and filled with fancy stuff, but just the time it took to load on my system, I uninstalled it soon after!
PSP6 forever :d:d

I'm using Photoshop 5.0 LE (limited edition). Gets the job done and it was FREEEEEEEE! Someone gave it to me a couple years ago and I have done nothing with it UNTIL I caught the Skinning Bug. Now I spend more time working on skins for planes than I do flying planes. Sad sad world we live in.

If you can understand it 'The Gimp' does anything that Photoshop can and is open source.
The 'documentation' is a bit mind-numbing!

Photoshop here. But, I agree the best tool is the one you master.

I have PSP 7-9 and still stick with 7.04.
Still the best for sim graphics and forum stuff.

Well, I'm lucky to have a hand me-down version of Photoshop CS1 (my first-cousin is a professional photographer. I have PSO 7.0 on an old computer, but I just am more used to Photoshop.
Photoshop Elements will do everything that is needed for repaints, touch up, whatever, and costs about the same as PSP.
Willbesoon is on the money about Paint.NET, it gets better with each update. Highly recommended for anyone on a budget.

I'm putzin around in PSP7. Learning all of the tools and options. A question about pre-set shapes. I found in my version that the rounded rectangle and others, loose the proportion of the radius in the corners of the rectangle. There seems to be no option to correct this. Did the newer versions of PSP correct this? Or is there another way around this minor shortfall.
Thanks, Dv

Corel Draw suite here - currently at X3. I first bought one of the very early versions as a "bargain basement" pack from the local software shop and simply upgrade every third issue or so - as long as the upgrade is at a full reduced rate.
If I were starting again, I'd go Photoshop for payware or GIMP for freeware. Corel doesn't like the nVidia plugins and nVidia don't seem to care about Corel.
