A.F. Scrub has just released an FS2004 cyclone engined P-36! It converts beautifully & as usual with his planes) has super frame rates. I am going to contact him about a CFS2 version with some repaints (British, Dutch & Chinese).

Oldwheat,

Thanks for the update. I might also point out that the Ex-Donationware P-36 is also a nice catch, and our friend Morton along with others have done RAF, Dutch, Chinese, Finnish, and French skins for her. :wiggle:

The donationware P-36 is a Twin-Wasp powered version. I plan on using both in my installs.

'Scrubbie' has given permission, actually he does this in the read-me also but I like to be certain in these matters.
Any volunteers for making a CFS2 version of the panel?

DP and airfile are ready since yesterday! I also have a CFS2 version of the panel...

Cheers

Pepe

PS: I also adapted the Chinese skin for the P-36G version. It's the right skin for the right plane, cause the fixed gear H-75O use different numbering four digit system.

Pepe sent his panels, airfile & DP. With a little more tweaking on the skins & adding some guntubes, I will upload them. The included skins will actually be those by A.F. Scrub with minor changes. I got the brainstorm of adding a shadow model to the good old 'Guntubes' but apparently it is only workable with aircraft. All that I succeeded in doing was to increase the polys.

Oldwheat, I was able to convert the plane myself. However, I cant see out the glass windows. Is there a trick to getting this fixed? Any help would be appreciated. Also, looking forward to your conversion of this plane; thanks so much.

Great news!! A.F. Scrub went overboard in being helpful & compiled a CFS2 Hawk 75 without the modeled in wing guns. Now we will be able to change the gun layout in the DP with good ol' Guntubes to create those of different Hawk 75 models.
Thanks a bunch A.F. :ernae: :jump: :jump:

EXCELLENT !

I've been giving myself fits trying to convert the Finnish P-36 - it goes thru MDLC, ACM and AirWrench just fine, but causes a CTD when I try to load it into Free Flight..... Grrrrrrrr.....

Thanks, Scrub !

It is a fine plane, but many historical skins were wrapped around it, even when they should be stuck on this short nose Hawk. Because of that, I look forward to have both models, if the conversion should be done.

I just uploaded my conversion of A.F Scrub's Curtiss Hawk 75-N (M actually for you nitpickers). The name line on the upload was kinda fubared & the upload is being called 'CMC CFCurtiss Hawk 75-N CFS2S2 Polikarpov I-152' for now. Perhaps someone can fix it. Also, I neglected to give Peperez credit for the panel, airfile & DP (which I tweaked for the 75-N).

oldwheat,

To edit your upload title or info/description, go to the page its on, on the right hand side around the box that says submitted by there will be an tiny icon which says edit when your pointer hovers over it. You can then change it to anything you want, even delete your upload or replace it.

OK, it's the fixed landing gear version of the Curtiss Hawk.

This could be one of the most exotic planes in CFS2: the Thailandese bought 25 planes (according to Wikipedia, other sites say just 12) that fought in the war against Vichy France (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French-Thai_War) in 1941 first, and then against the Japanese later that year.

That could be a nice skin (http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/af235/paperjerry2/Sesion%20Fotografica%20ARME/DSC05070.jpg).

A nice pic from a Museum (http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/photos/6/7/7/0952776.jpg), with underwing cannon pods and bombs!.

Thanks OW and Mr.Scrubb.

Great, I've been waiting for this one for a long time. Thank you OW. Actually, Chennalt flew one of these as his personal aircraft presented to him by the president of China's wife. I believe it was in bare metal with the Chinese insignia. That's what the picture looked like anyway. Great work.

All that really needs to be done now is to add a bombload so I have a question= What U.S. bomb is being represented by the Japanese 30 Kg. bomb in the Donationware P-36 & is there a CFS2 version of it?

OW,

Here is a link to the 303d Bomb Group's ordnance page. 30 kgs should come out to about 66 pounds and a few ounces. Nothing in the chart that would directly match weight wise.

http://www.303rdbg.com/bombs.html

Paul Strany had a nice weapons pack with his Hudson Mk III. It included a well done US 100 lb GP bomb. Kelticheart uploaded the package here at the Outhouse sometime ago. If it's not available anymore, let me know. It may be what you need.

I guess that I will have to find out just what bombs Hawk 75s usually carried. If necessary, I'll make some bombs.

P-40īs in Africa used low weight bombs, about three under each wing. 50 pounders, may be?

There is a US 40lb bomb, but I don't remember where did I get it from, and have never used it. It was created by someone called Beowolff, and he gave this explanation on the readme:

US 40 pound bomb for CFS2.

Somewhat unhappy with the CFS2 stock bombs...and really happy with
the VB boys excellent German bomb addons...I decided to try my hand
at making a similiar more "authentic" US bomb, in this case the
40 pound bomb so often seen on the old Allied Kittyhawk and Warhawk
aircraft. So that is exactly what I've done here...and though I
surely know that it isn't perfect by a long shot..I do feel (at
least personally) that it looks more authentic that CFS2 Stockers.

August 29th, 2010, 14:11
The only "light weight" american bombs that I have found are 20, 23 and 30 lb fragmentation bombs, from a late war manual on bombs. They were used in clusters. But probably there were more light bombs early in the war. May be looking for late thirties photos we can find that kind of bombs.

Some of my own little tweaks that have made this plane a little murderer:

1. I set the weapons effectiveness in the .dp per 1% standards and then did the AIMIT thing. I set my tracers at 60. I'm a bit of a sadist and like to see the bullet stike as they chew up a Ki-2 or a Nell.
2. The panel is very good but apparently from a P-40. I had to run the panel.bmp through Paintshop Pro and lower the gunsight to get any forward visibility at all and to get the sight image to line up with the reticle(gunsight64.bmp). I also eliminated the ringed crosshair sight that would be mounted up by the prop; with a reflector sight this is redundant, detracts from visibility, and is a distraction, to me at least.

Great plane gentleman, I'm looking forward to the Finn:salute:

Well, donīt look for more light bombs for the Hawk. At last I remembered that Ivan Hsuīs Hawk III comes with light bombs. You can find the plane and bombs here:

And the bomb name is WEP_US_M3BOMB_GP, and the pylon is wep_pylon_hawk3_wing for you that already have that weapon in your library.

OK, for some stupid reason, the bombs give a 'cannot find' popup on the Hawk 75 but they work just fine on other aircraft in the same folder. Maybe it's a DP glitch that I have overlooked :banghead:. Anyway, they are uploaded now so I'll leave it up to someone else to fit them to the Hawk 75.

Well, donīt look for more light bombs for the Hawk. At last I remembered that Ivan Hsuīs Hawk III comes with light bombs. You can find the plane and bombs here:

http://www.simviation.com/cfs2aircraft50.htm

And the bomb name is WEP_US_M3BOMB_GP, and the pylon is wep_pylon_hawk3_wing for you that already have that weapon in your library.

Trasno

I got this and tried it (you'll need an earlier Hawk III version to get the .dp and textures of the bombs), but I'm getting crashes to desk even in the airplane selection screen. The thing is that it also happens with Ivan Hsu's I-16 weapon pack, not sure why, but seems like there's something wrong going on between their weapons and my computer.

Is anybody else also having problems with them?

Jpalance, the crash is because Ivan uses very large aircraft names in the aircraft cfg. Cut the neme and use a shorter one, and that will resolve the problem.

Thanks Trasno, but this is not the case, as I always edit the planes names to my taste (usually a short description, like I-16 Tip5 Mosca), and also have tried this bombs in another plane (in this case, in Bruce Thorson's Tomahawk) and get a crash as well.

Well, both the I-16 and Hawk III work for me after editing the name, so I donīt know what can be your problem.

A.F. did the skins. We could use a lot more (hint, hint). A few British skins would be most useful. BTW. The skins for the donation P-36's fit with a little tweaking.

I really like AF's work. His models are simple, but very nice! I'm enjoying his I-153 immensely!
