View Full Version : Since this has been a problem...(CFS2 BoB)

For many of us vets, the CFS2 BoB scenery pack can at times prove problematic for those creating an ETO install. (Especially lately, it seems)

So, for those who have installed the bases pack and have problems such as no objects being on the airfields (or only one or two here and there), I have created a set of individual GSL files for these bases.

If you're having problems with no objects showing up on the airfields, use Martin Wright's GSLMan, (Easily found in most of Achim's packs) and perform the following steps...

1) Download this pack and place the individual GSL files into your GSL folder with GSLMan.

2) Using GSLMan, highlight these individual GSL files and click on "remove" to clear out any remnants that might be in the GSL file for these bases.

2) After exiting GSLMan, open it again and highlight these individual GSL files, this time clicking on "add." After getting a confirmation massage, start CFS2 and check to see that the problem is resolved.

And remember, always make a backup of your CFS2 GSL file before doing something like this!

This has already worked for one CFS2 member tonight, I hope it will for others as well.

I will see about getting permission to upload this as a permanent fix. And, this thread has been "tagged" for easy retrieval.

While I'm thinking about it,

When we had the server crash, all of the hyperlinks Achim provided for the objects required to make his bases work were reset, consequently people have had a devil of a time finding what they need to make them work. To fix this, here is a simple document which contains working hyperlinks for the objects required to make his bases work.

I even went so far as to include the EAWWII objects that Achim indicates are required, so that way you don't have to download that scenery pack at all, just the needed objects. This had also been tagged for future reference and easy retrieval.

Hopefully, this will also save people a lot of headaches...and perhaps reduce the number of threads and questions we seem to have to answer regarding the subject.

Thanks, Rami. This ETO install has been a real head banging, mind numbing, learning experience for me! The Bob manual install is great, wish I had it before. Today, I am reinstalling Euro Targets. Oh, the joy of doing things over and over and............. I think I am learning the boneheaded way, after finally getting it right, you will never forget how you did it!

I too, must say thanks so much for all your overtime help! :salute:

Thanks Rami!

Even if I have my scenery working fine, not after many fights with it anytime I changed mesh files for the area, I appreciate this GSL pack very much.

With it I can get rid of the self-installed scenery and do a manual one, perhaps add a few trees here and there.

One word of advice for anybody installing it: if you are installing SdC's ETO shorelines, rivers, roads and railways too, DO NOT allow the self-installer install European water for you! It will conflict with SdC's watermasks, cause doubled shores and an altogether crappy coastline while SdC's sceneries are so nice and accurate!

It took me well over four years to understand why everybody else's ETO coastlines were so nice and mine where such a mess!

Cheers!

Kelti,

Good call, and I actually did a post and pictures to that effect.

Considering that you already have Sander's ETO files installed, this is something you DO NOT want to have. If you have already installed the Bob pack, don't fret, I'll show you how to fix it.

However, for others who will install this pack, make sure to leave the "New Europe Water" UNCHECKED.

For those who have installed it with these coastlines, you want to go into the CFS2\SCENERY folder (NOTE: This is NOT the SCENEDB folder) and delete any files that begin with "hyp5." These are the coastlines that may be causing you problems.

Then, make sure you delete the filelist.dat that is inside that folder as well.

Here are some pics to explain the process. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/images/misc/paperclip.png Attached Thumbnails http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=14280&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1280692021 (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=14280&d=1280692021) http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=14279&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1280692020 (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=14279&d=1280692020) http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=14278&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1280692019 (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=14278&d=1280692019)

Thank you Rami for explaining the manual process to fix the problem!

I did it by running the self-installer again, which senses the installed scenery and works as a remove utility, and unchecking the "New Europe Water" box.

The uninstaller removed the files and, magically, SdC's coastlines appeared as they should have.

People can choose either method to fix the conflict between Sander's ETO coastlines and the BoB scenery.

Cheers!
