The teams have landed in Montreal, Canada for round eight of this year's championship. The track is a road course like Albert park and the monaco track, so it's slippery and the walls are pretty close to the track.

The results of te friday's practice session :

1. Pedro de la Rosa Spain McLaren-Mercedes 01:14.662
2. Ricardo Zonta Brazil Toyota-Toyota 01:14.858
3. Fernando Alonso Spain Renault-Renault 01:15.376
4. Juan Pablo Montoya Colombia McLaren-Mercedes 01:15.626
5. Kimi Raikkonen Finland McLaren-Mercedes 01:15.679
6. Giancarlo Fisichella Italy Renault-Renault 01:15.846
7. Jenson Button Britain BAR-Honda 01:16.190

22. Tiago Monteiro Portugal Jordan-Toyota 01:19.186
23. Scott Speed American Red Bull-Cosworth 01:19.270

McLaren, Renault, Toyota and (surprisingly) BAR are fastest, while F1 rookie and Red Bull testdriver Scott Speed (What's in a name?) is the slowest of the day. American Speed will do the friday testing for Red Bull in Canada and America, while Christian Klien will retake his seat in the second RB car.

Rain is predicted for Saturday, so I could be an interesting qualifying session tomorrow !

Schumi is only on position sixteen, John, but acccording to rumours Ferrari might opt for a one-stop strategy in stead of a normal two stop.

Kimi Raikkonen did very well for himself in the drivers' championship today, by winning the Canadian Grand Prix, while his main rival, championshipleader Alonso, failed to finish. Fernando Alonso hit a wall on lap 38, wrecking his car's suspension forcing him to retire.
And because Fisichella suffered a hydraulic failure, it means that McLaren closed the gap to Renault with ten points. It could have been eighteen points, but JP Montoya was disqualified for exiting the pit under a red light. Montoya was leading behind the safetycar at the time of his stop. The safetycar was deployed because Button smashed into the wall in the last chicane before the starting line.

A very good result for Ferrari, with Schumacher fighting back to second after he dropped to sixth after a bad start. Barrichello drove a very impressive race, climbing to third after he started twentieth and last.
