Has anyone flown the ME-262 mission in 1944 yet and survived. That would make some great shots. I warn you it is a tough one indeed.

Flyer,

I can give you a couple of inside tips that may help.

1. taxi straight ahead to the paved road and turn right on it not left. The bomb explosions are much worse if you turn left.
2. Back taxi on the paved road past the RR tracks then turn around and takeoff in the direction you taxied from on the paved road. Load only 50% fuel and use 1 notch of flaps.
3. there are a bunch of P-51D's prowling around that will shoot you down as you takeoff so keep your nose down and build speed as quickly as possible.

After this you are on your own, I can't hit crap with those air to air rockets but maybe you will do better and make goal.

I have never been able to make goal in this mission because I can't knock down the bombers with my rockets or a P-51 gets me.

Good luck and good hunting!!

Yeah

I discovered that after been made to pieces 4 or 5 times...
Those bomber gunners are terribly efficient and can shoot me down no matter what. If we could only reduce their efficiency to normal (real) levels it'd be great help...:banghead::d

He never saw me as I dove on him from his 7:00. The cannon shells tore in to the cockpit area and the fuselage fuel tank in front of the pilot exploded in flames. I half rollled and passed beneath the Spit as I watched the pilot in the burning cockpit trying to open the hood to bailout. Then the aircraft exploded and began to disintegrate. The smoke trail hung in the air for several minutes as the aircraft corkscrewed to the earth.

For my first ETO run I chose to fly in the 1936 era. A quick look around to see all the missions and planes. Suddenly the L5 comes into sight. Now here is a nice little bird to play with.

The next thing you know Chuck Yeager is flying the L5 finds a Ammo Depot in south Belgium and after 6 grenades blows it off the map. I am not good at bombing. Now to get out of there. I made my way at low altitude to England and saw the white cliffs of Dover pictured above and landed Hawking. For some reason they did not recognize me as an Alie and hit my plane with Flak shortly after landing. :costumes: When I ended the mission the Pilot Chuck Yeager walks away from the plane looks back and shakes his head. That was cool and I did not get a screen shot of that I was dumb founded.

The trees were amazing it was some nice low level flying....

Do you know how long it takes to fly from South Belgium to England in the L5? :icon_lol:

In 1943 as a squadron of B-26g where being delivered to the ETO from Fort Lauderdale, FL. to Bermuda, then on to the war in Europe. We were told to be battle ready by the squadron leader. He was seeing a strange thing-------- WWI German zeppelins heading towards the U.S. Later we found we had gone further in to the Bermuda triangle then planned. This is the first time theses pitchers have been released for public viewing.(This is a fictional story, locations are not ment to be conserterd part of the ETO sim. But to demonstrate that other aircraft from other CFS3 sim's can be placed in to ETO.)

One of the things that I started doing during testing of ETO was to take older missions and mission packs and see how they wre in the ETO. Here's some shots from the Italian Stallions Mission pack at found Italian wings. Great fun. Plus the Italians, IMHO, made some really trippy looking planes, It's like they had super creative aircraft designers. Most of these missions work just fine in ETO. They all use the 46th airbases and those bases are all included in ETO in one era or another.
These are mostly shots of Beaufighters getting shot down by passionate Italian Airmen.

Loaded the Willes Jeep from the Korean skies. Drove it around in ETO and found that it was rather fun. Only thing i can not find a road going in or out of the airbases. although i have not even begun to go to all the airbases. Next i am going to drive the jeep in a mission of an airbase raid. That should be great fun. These picture do not show the detail that the GH's put in ETO. Thank you GH's

:kilroy:Jumpoo, when you want to take screenshots in CFS3, or any of its add-on games, just press Ctrl + ; (the semi-colon/colon key). To find your pic, follow the pathway C:/Documents and Settings/User Name (Your Name)/My Documents/CFS3 ETO Expansion (or whatever other CFS3-based game in which you took the pic; PTO, MAW, OFF, KS, etc). Note that Ctrl + ; works for all of them.:d

Jumpoo, if you have Fraps, you can choose your own button too. Sometimes the puntuation buttons get in the way of other game stick commands. I had a whole slew of screenies from Lock On I never knew I took!

Lewis, these textures will work with Johnno's scenery. I am using his lowres scenery sheet as my guide. I am only substituting a few trees from the winter set with color. This way it will still blend nicely with the light snow winters. The first trees on his sheet up top are year 'round. The new lower set are summer/winter. I'm tweaking some more and I'll post back. I need to contact johnno to get permission to post or work into the update. It's really easy, just swap the one sheet and you are in business. Summer doesn't change.

As cool as the contrail is, you need to get down on the deck and try to pick them out from the terrain and the skyline approaching London. Check out the newsreel films to see what it was really like. The V-1 was programmed to cruise at about 2500-3000 ft. That's it. At nearly 400mph, that's where the challenge is.

Shortly after this pic we engaged 70+ Dorniers. I got hit by some accurate return fire from one of the gunners, lost all my fuel then had to glide back to Lympne and make a forced landing. All very immersive :)

Have never had a fuel loss like that in cfs3 before. In my panic though I forgot to try switching tanks, wonder if that ever happened for real!

Great screenie Pat, I bet fumbles like that happened all the time with the stress of action. I didn't know you could switch tanks, and they don't seem self sealing either. In my Sea Eagles mission, fuel loss is the most common reason for ditching. Those air gunners are B*****ds! A few times I've had to decide between saving the day or getting home as the fule loss didn't allow for both.

Pictures form missions at netwings. Landing is a 10 mission pack and river rats is a mission pack also. Very good missions. I added the 3un_f4u-1aw (my favorite plane) from PTO to ETOE with different payloads like the smoke_bomb , rockets and flares. I mark the target with the smoke bombs so I can turn off labels. Then drop flares if it is a night mission to lite the smoke then hit the target with rockets. Like I said very good missions.

Here are the first Screenies of the new Whimpey vs U-Boat mission. Attack was made with flares and then a second run made with depth charges. In the same mission the Wellie came across the German 'flying boat', flying at it the ai gunners tore into it and shot it down. On arrival at home base another flying boat was lurking around, so we had a go at that and another victory was scored.

In one mission several testers have remarked the phenomena of fuctional, but ditched Wellie. So much so that it's gunners fire back. This one was the result of several passes of the '88 in a dogfight. After taking a look and being fired upon by the Wellie's gunners, the '88 shot up the ditched Wellie which broke up, but floated on!

Great pictures. I've tried loading the 1.02 patch ( I didn't have the original 1.01) over a vanilla patched to 3.1 instal but got all sorts of weirdness. To start with the sim opens with the pilot going along and spinning round and round. Select 'missions' and this stops but nothing loads, then CTD. I might try it again later and see what happens.

A couple of questions. If you don't have the original version 1.01 do you need to install this and then 1.02 over it or can you go straight to 1.02 over a vanilla patched installation?

If you can go straight to the 1.02 version how do you select era one when nothing has been started?

What is the installation sequence starting from scratch if you don't have the 1.01 version. Yes I read all the readme's but I'm still confused. Don't forget it's Brainless posting here :icon_lol:.

And lastly can we get the super RAF airfields for the dedicated BOB installation as a separate install?

Are there still FPS problems with the new airfields. I tried the Beta versions but get only 5.00-6.00 FPS in Hawkinge and had to strip everything out to get a frame rate high enough to take off in!? The others were fine tho' and these look so,so much better than the default ones.

The ETO looks great work guys if only I could get it to work:ernae:

grizzly50
November 29th, 2008, 09:32
:kilroy:Brainless, you've got a big problem. You obviously don't have CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.0 onstalled. The ETO Expansion Update 1.01 is invalid and was discontinued. It looks to me like you tried to install the ETO Expasion Update into your CFS3 vanilla install.

You need to:

1. Go here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=862&page=5 Use this link to get the downloader for CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.0. It's in post #100.

2. Go here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=4040 Use this link to get the downloader for CFS3 ETO Expansion Update 1.02. It's in post #2

3. Completely uninstall your vanilla Stock CFS3 install and all of its components.

4. Reinstall CFS3 and update with the 3.1 and 3.1a updates, preferably in the default location, if possible. Make sure to fly it at least once afterwards.

5. Install CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.0 as per all readme instructions. Remember to start and fly it at least once in Era 1.

6. Make sure ETO Expansion 1.0 has been started in Era 1 and exited. Then run ETO Expansion Update 1.02 as per all readme instructions.

After this, you should be good to go.:d

Guys, I installed ETO 1.0 just yesterday and have a few questions:

1. I got 5 ETO shortcuts on the desktop (ETO Backup, ETO BDP Zapper, ETO Resolution, ETO Spawn Selector, ETO Start). I used ETOResolution (clicked on @Hig, but still not sure if it worked since it is kinda dumb button and does not respond), will I ever need BDP Zapper, ETO Backup? I'm not going to switch to a lower resolution neither.

2. I switched to RANDOM SPAWN DISABLE (option 2) - anyone else is using it?

3. I select option 2 in ETO Start which is SUMMER 1940 - YEAR END 1942 BATTLE OF BRITAIN. After that I get
"WELCOME TO THE CFS3 ETO EXPANSION GLOBAL LAYER SWAPPER THE CFS3 ETO GLOBAL LAYER SWAPPER WILL NOW CHANGE OUT THE GLOBAL LAYER FILES" and under that I get some garbaged fonts in greek for options to choose from (I'm on non-english OS). Pls advise which letter I must hit at this point (is it 'y', 'a' etc...)?

3. Next the Battle of Britain splash ETO Rev1.0 screen comes up, but when I start a new campaign as a British I can't find the BoB campaign in the Campaign drop down or anything pertinent to 1940 - 1942? It offers 1943 and some other non-BoB campaings.

:kilroy:Dirk98, I will answer your questions to the best of my ability.

1. Yes, you should have 5 icons.

a. BDP Zapper is for zapping, or deleting, all of the bdp files in the game. You should do this after installation of other things, especially any new effects. You should also use it right before joining an online game.

b. ETO Resolution Swapper is for swapping resolution. I never use mine.

c. ETO Spawn Selector is for selectiong your spawns.

1. Stock Spawn Mode is for purely stock CFS3 spawns.
2. Random Spawn Mode is for no random spawns. This should especially be used when flying Missions.
3. Allied Side ETO Campaign is used for flying Campaigns in Eras 3, 4, and 5 when playing the Allied Side.
4. Axis Side ETO Campaign is used for flying Campaigns in Eras 3, 4, and 5 when playing the Axis Side.
5. Allied Side Attack in the West Campaign is use when flying the Attack in the West Campaign in Era 1 only as an Allied player.
6. Axis Side Attack in the West Campaign is used when flying the Attack in the West Campaign in Era 1 only as an Axis player.
7. Allied Side Phoney War Campaign is used when flying the Phoney War Campaign in Era 1.
8. Axis Side Phoney War Campaign is used when flying the Phoney War Campaign in Era 1.

d. ETO Backup icon is for backing up certain files and folders for recovery purposes. Place the Eta Start in Era 1 and the ETO Spawn Selector for 1 (Stock Spawn Mode) before running the ETO Backup. It backs up all missions folders, the global_layer folder, and other necessary folders and files on your hard drive, outside of the CFS3 ETO Expansion main game folder. This is to ensure that you can fix problems easily, without having to un-install and re-install ETO.

e. ETO Start is easy. When you click ETO Start, select the number of the Era you want to play in, from 1 to 5. After you type in the number, press any other key, and the game will start.

2. Random Spawn Disable is for disabling random spawns. This should be used when flying missions.

3. Follow Step 1e above.

4. There as yet is no BoB Campaign. If there was one, it would be in Era 2, of course.

For the record, there is a folder chock full of very useful README files inside the CFS3 ETO Expansion main game folder named "CFS3 ETO Expansion READMEs", intended for the proper care and feeding of ETO.

I hope that this helps.:d
