View Full Version : Ok, so much for my MSI video card. I need advice!

My MSI 260 video card was having errors, so I sent it back to MSI for repair.
They emailed me yesterday, saying they were refunding me the purchase price. I suppose they couldn't repair the card. No matter.
However, I would still like to get another card. Am sure MSI makes a good product, but I am leary of going with the same model now.
Currently I am running my old card, which is a NVIDIAGeforce 8800 GT.
It's been a good card, but I would like something with a little more "horsepower".
Suggestions? The MSI card cost me about $215. I don't really want to exceed that. If anything, preferably something a little less expensive.
Thanks.

I'm also using the 8800GT with 512meg. It works fairly well but it would be better with more memory. How much memory does yours have?

Might be bad luck, but I bought two MSI products in the past, a graphics card and a mobo.
Both failed within a year from purchase.

I am running 4 GB of RAM, in addition to the card's 512, so no problem there.
And the card does work ok, but am hoping for a replacement card that would give me an increase in FPS.
Thanks.

Chief, a card with 1GB of memory would be good. I've got Zotac 8800GT 1GB GDDR3 card but have to upgrade my mobo and processor before I can use it. I'd bought it as I heard good things about it.

You have a link to where this card can bought? Can't find it!
Thanks.

I tend to stay away from MSI. I have an EVGA GTX 260 in my system and it is still running strong after more than a year.

IIRC it was a limitied run on the 1GB cards.
But..... I did find this one for you Pete..... http://www.nextag.com/Zotac-ZT-98GEY3M-FSL-706409770/prices-html It's a sweet deal for a newer Zotac 9800GT. :d
If you have a CompUSA near you they might have it in stock.

That's great. Back when I bought my 8800 it cost me 186.00 including shipping. At least you got a great deal.
Hey if the 1GB 8800GT is good the 1GB 9800GT has to be better... hopefully. :d
