Aight guys after originally going into Fry's for a descent video card to run my television on, i came out with a new FSX deluxe in my hands as well. When i read the specs on the side my 3 year old system had more then enough juice for this thing. So i got home installed it and although it ran it i had to keep the graphics so low it wasn't fun. Needless to say Monday i went back to the local computer superstore and bought my new system and here's what i've concluded so far.

Here's what i bought
mobo - Asus p5nsli 570 sli
cpu - intel dual core 2 e6600
fan - zulman x9500( stock cpu fan sucks and this fan really kicks the heat)
vid card - ati radeon x1300 pro 256mg ram
memory - 2gig pc5300 667 ram
everything else i already had

Let me start off by saying wow what a difference it made. without doing any tweaks at all i was getting 40 fps(fps set to unlimited) with the graphics set aircraft-full right, graphics, high, scenery, high, traffic medium, weather, med low

when i maxed the entire system out and flew in new york city i was still getting 8-15 average. I think that is very very good and was more then i was expecting.

now for the drawback after flying around for about 3 hours, i noticed with higher resolutions that the scenery would flash black in certain squares. Presumably from the lower end video card. Also after flying a leer 45 around for about and 1 hour the game started locking up. I'll do more testing tonight to see whats causing the lockup.

I tried to modify my fsx.cfg for some tweaks but after finding the file i can't open it my computer says "what do you want to open this file with". Am i doing something wrong or do i need a program to view this file. I am running off of a fresh install of windows xp pro
