Here's a WIP shot of the repaint I am doing. It is one of 4 B-26 sent to Taiwan by the CIA to fly clandestine missions over China around the late '50s.

Hi,

Looking nice! Some very interesting stories off CIA clandestine use of the B-26 in all sort of secret missions during the 50's, 60's and even the 70's. Even Air America used the B-26B/C for missons over SEA early in the "Vietnam war" flying from Thailand. Remember reading something sbout a secret op called "Mill Pond" which was cancelled just before the attacks started in 1960. The Mill Pond aircraft were painted all black.

A scraped black B-26 still can be seen in RCSS (Sung Shan Airport, Taipei) as late as '80. Hi JensOle, your information is great.

Interesting, reading in the Air America record that most of the RB-26C/B-26B/C's were scrapped on site in taiwan after many years with heavy use.

I'm making a black A-A repaint, I'll post some screenshots soon.

Uploading my repaint to avsim and flightsim now. I'll put it here at SOH as soon as I receive special access.

Based on the books I have, the Invaders shown here were supplied to Taiwan by the Western Enterprises Inc. They flew low-altitude night missions into China to drop propaganda materials and intel operatives out of Hsinchu Air Base. This operation was probably not directly related to Air America.

Yes, I doubt that Air America was flying misions over mainland China, but it looks like Tainan was the hub for CIA B-26 operations in Asia/Africa and that Air America trained and borrowed aircraft for its own operations. Another CIA affiliated company flying B-26s out of Tainan was Air Asia. Western Enterprises Inc was another CIA front company providing "paramilitary" support to CIA ops over mainland china. So in one way or another they all worked for the "agency" and was flying B-26's...

BTW, I have changed the dynamic shine on the model which I think orginaly was all to shiny with the MDLMat program. Not much shine on those well used CIA Invaders, at least on those painted in flat dull dark colors.

The exploits of Air America are well-known by now. Of course, at that time the two "companies" probably operated along totally isolated chains of command, and had no idea what the other was doing.
