Has happened a few times......restarting FSX does not remove it. Only reboot of PC.

Yes I have. At first thought it was a malicious piece of software, but ESET dos not think so.

Seems like a video driver issue, as it is more than just FSX. Have to re-boot the PC to clear it. Thought I was maxing my video card (Nvidia 275), but don't think so.

I'm just as puzzled as you.

Looks like my ati 4870 card when I max it out with the overclock sliders, You may be pushing your GPU card too much.

Are you by chance running the BP=0 tweak in your fsx.cfg? I had the same thing happening when I used it. Would start happening after a few minutes of flight. Restarting fsx would not cure it, only a reboot of the pc. I removed the bp=0 entry from the fsx.cfg and have not had the problem occur again. Hope this help.

Navy Chief, not to scare you or anything, but last time I saw this kind of phenomenom on my PC, it was just weeks before my 8800 GTX died from a cooling or a memory problem.
At the beginning, only the autogen textures were concerned. Then progressively, the problem extended to all screen, and the card would become less and less stable...

I can only concur with what has already been said in this thread, those kind of visual artifacts usually symptom a graphics card that is being pushed too hard or is about to die.

Ditto. That was my first thought as well.
Mine is a 8600 GT and does that when it's not cooling enough.

Not to get too personal, but have ya dusted the fan and heat sink lately? :)

Thanks for all your tips. I haven't tweaked the cards settings any. Don't plan to. I did blow off the heatsink and fan; will wait to see if that makes a difference. Have not changed anything in the FSX.cfg file, so that couldn't be the culprit.

Will keep you posted!
