If you are like me, and I have a computer in this category, you may need to do what I need to do.

That is convert the 32-bit (beautiful) textures to DXT3 to get a smoother, faster texture load experience with the A-26.

Knowing that many of you have this situation, I have asked Bomber_12th to have mercy on us and provide a set of converted textures for us all. This he has done. :applause:

The DXT3 optional texture set will be uploaded soon after the A-26 package is available. So, if you feel these texture sets can help your computer setup, they will be provided ... free of charge. :d

Thank you Bomber_12th, I thank you, and my computer thanks you. :ernae:

On the other hand Milton, ( knowing we are both "retired") the other option is this....

ttp://h20435.www2.hp.com/

- mind you, it can probably control a shuttle, the SOH forum AND FS9 with a full load of rush hour AI at O'Hare and still have cycles left over to check your email :costumes:. No price officially yet, but I'm guessing the "Dedication Edition" will be a tad ( or a couple of megabucks) over $6000

Gotta love Voodoo.. a nice little Calgary company that just got bought by HP to be one heck of a gaming division -- this is their first offering:applause:

LOL My next major purchase will be soon ... a new home on wheels for full time living. I reckon the old computer will have to do for awhile until space limitations require a laptop purchase. :d

Sounds great Milton ... a moving target is harder to hit :costumes:

We've been considering the same option but having to downsize my wood shop is a stumbling block. The computer issue isn't - I have the skills to modify a motorhome cabinet to house a decent small case comp. (with anti-shock mounting, etc.) and set up a hideaway work surface away from the sleeping area.
Hope it works out for you and maybe we'll see you "on the road"

You may ... as we intend to visit BC and Vancouver Island.

I tried DXT3 textures on my rig, and the scenery went to crap around the plane! I guess my nVidia rig doesn't like the combiation of decompressing the textures and dealing with the model. On the other hand, it has no problem iwth the default planes and their DXT3 textures.

Another option might be to use either 16- or 8-bit uncompressed formats. (DXT3 and 8-bit both have the same filesize.)

Milton, when you make your way through North Carolina, let me know - there's a beer waiting with your name on it!:ernae:

It is interesting that video cards and driver differences has such an impact on these packages. I have seen lots of strangeness over the years. We will be traveling through NC from Gatlinburg, TN eastward to I85 at some point. I'll look you up Tom.
