What I'd give to have a bunch of those right now!

Since being diagnosed with high Cholesterol 6 weeks ago I've lost 1 1/2 stone (21 lbs)...mainly by avoiding cakes, biscuits, sweets and :guinness::icon29:

:d

Keep the doughnuts, I'll stick with the German chocolate cake.

The article introduction is false. It's Pfannkuchen, not Berliner. At least in Berlin.

The only kind of donut for me, is the good ole' fashion sugared donut. I like them plain and simple. No jelly, no bavarian cream, no sprinkles....

a chocolate dipped chocolate donut, dunked in milk, it the only way for me. unless i'm in a place where i can take a bavarian creme donut, and eat the donut part away from the creme and icing, saving that part for last. just doesn't go over well in public.

In other cities Kennedy might have said: "Ich bin ein Frankfurter", or "Ich bin ein Hamburger", just good that he declared himself a doughnut!:jump:

All that artsy-fartsy-fancy-schmancy garbage has absolutely no place in a donut! Give me Britts Donuts in Carolina Beach (http://www.carolinabeach.net/britts1.html)!!! Krispy Kreme is OK in a pinch, but Britts is truly "crispy" on the outside, and light as helium on the inside. The only make one kind - Glazed. They make, roll, and cut the dough by hand. They use a wooden stick to flip them in the oil. They put the glaze on my hand. I've never tasted a better donut in my life!

While studying in Berlin, friends explained why "In Berlin, gibt's kein Berliner." That is,in Berlin there are no Berliners (the donuts). Filled donuts are a tradition there for New Years.

As to the chocolate eclair's my wife has learned to make them. I am so lucky.

True!
And if you are unlucky, you get one filled with mustard!
I remember the old games...

I use to date a girl that worked for Dunkin Donuts ... my favorite at the time was the Apple Crumb, she use to fill my donuts to the point that one bite was a disaster, it would explode and run all over the place ... but I ate em up!
