Hi,

I just finished "Jungle Ace" by John Bruning. It describes the ww2 experiences of Gerald R. Johnson, who was a fighter pilot who flew in the Aleutans, New Guinea and Phillipines.

The reason why I post this here is because I think Bruning did an outstanding and exeptional good job in trying to show the very personal side of this intelligent, sensible and so desperate young man, and also for showing in which horrible conditions Jerry and his mates flew and fought, and sometimes died. In my eyes this publication is way above other biographies, even auto-biographies, which I normaly prefer.
I also noted that Bruning is know for his participation in the development of some flight simulators (e.g. Red Baron 2) and is an avid aviation enthusiast, which is well reflected in his description of the fighters Jerry flew in his times.

Here's a cheers to John R. Bruning!
His "Ship Strike Pacific" will be in my reading pipeline for sure :-)
