Unfortunately, there most likely is no way to get around this problem. Can you please post the type of graphics card you have?

MCDesigns
November 16th, 2008, 17:08
yes, please post your specs. It may be that you won't be able to run/enjoy the sim. If your card isn't up to speed, it makes me wonder what the rest of rig is like for meeting the sim requirements.

What kind of computer do you have (make/model)?

War Ace,

More info please. What operating system? What CPU, how much system memory? Windows XP and Vista have a system information tool that will tell us what we need to know. My guess is that you may need more than just a graphics card. 358Meg may be the video memory, but let's be sure.

That is an integrated graphics chip on your motherboard and will never run FSX.

You may be able to add a dedicated graphics card, but we will need to know the details of your system.

If you right-click on your desktop and choose "Properties" then go to the "Settings" tab of the display properties panel, it'll probably list what kind of card you have in the Display drop-down below the image of the monitor(s). For instance, "[monitor type] on [video card type]". Let us know what that says and maybe someone can be more helpful.

According to my research, the G965 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_GMA#Table_of_GMA_graphics_cores_and_chipsets ) is an integrated graphics system...:kilroy:

edit: ^for more information on your card click the link above^ the info is under GMA X3000

MCDesigns

Yep, it's integrated and unless you have a vid card slot (AGP or PCI express) in your motherboard AND can get a decent card installed, you are pretty much out of luck it seems. Your CPU is rather low end as well so your FSX experience will be less than good, sorry!.

I think its just the shader the is low quality everything else I think is good. still pissed off!:banghead:
edit:k I'll try to save for a new pc wat specs would be acceptable but not neccesarilly excellent quality?

you need at least a dual core processor - I have a Pentium 4 @ 3.4ghz

you need an Nvidia 8800 or better GPU with at least 512mb onboard ram

you need at least 2 gigs of RAM - I use Corsair @ 2 x 1gig

you can get away with onboard sound

the motherboard should be upwardly expandable from this point on...mine is an
MSI P965 Platinum mobo and it has been good to me

I am running Windows Xp - not Vista - but this rig could handle either OS and still do FSX
I have two hard drives, one for the OS and anitivirus/antispyware etc..and the other is for everything else,
but you don't have to do that - I just wanted to keep the OS seperate and clean on its own drive.

My rig, without the peripherals was about $1200.00 and that was almost 2 years ago.

I had it built by a local shop to my specs - but I imagine it would be alot cheaper today (I've seen relatively similar box brand rigs recently for less than $1000) and I can run FSX fairly well - given that I stay away from large cities and heavy traffic and whatnot in the sim.

Trust me. You want to upgrade to a better graphics card. If not then it will look like cr*p.

Butcherbird17
November 16th, 2008, 19:37
He has a c2d and 2 gig of ram. What he needs to do is see if the mobo has a PCI-E dimm, if not he will need to find a PCI vid card. I don't think the board has an AGP dimm. I think that Asrock are the only mobo manufacturer that has a board out there that has and AGP and PCI-E that supports c2d.
Who makes the computer you are using ( HP, Gateway ect.) and its model number? Once we know that we can tell you what type vid card you need.
This info should be right on the case.

Yes, he has a dual-core processor, but it's very slow. The closer you can get to 3.0 GHz, the better. His is running at less than 2GHz, which is going to provide some pretty poor performance in FSX.

Sorry, wish the news was better.

War.ace PM me and I will give you specs that will fly FSX with most sliders right under $1000.

right - he needs 3.0 Ghz or better...

time for a new rig - but since you already have a monitor and the other peripherals - all you need is the big box.

make sure that you start with a really good, upgradeable motherboard and components that are close to or better than what I and others have listed and you will be good to go for a while.

Check newegg.com for prices on the components I listed and you will see it is not that expensive - the graphics card I bought there is a Zotac 8800gt512 and it was less than 200 bucks...

price it all out with a case and power supply of your choice - you want at least a 500w power supply - and make sure its a big roomy case with a couple of 5" fans in it. You will see its not that expensive.

Or check the brand box mfg sites like Alien and G-way and Dell and pay 30-40% more for a complete unit....but if there is a computer shop in your town ask them if they can build you one using the components you select and see what they charge - start with certified M/S service and repair shops - those shops usually also build complete rigs to spec.

if you check out the second one it says something about the "g3d.dll" I wonder if thats the problem

those screenshots reinforce what was said earlier...your graphics card (or lack thereof) is the problem.

Hi War.ace,

I only have about 150 dollars left, I dont want to buy anything else except a new computer that will play FSX delux acelleration. I wish there's a computer out there that cost only around 200 dollars canadian.:banghead:

atleast well? because I already lost a quarter of my money when I bought fsx gold

November 17th, 2008, 19:24
if you buy a decent graphics card you will be able to play fsx. maybe not as good as snuffy but still playable. how do i know? because my computer isn't even as nice as your and i fly fsx every single day.

i bought my graphics card at staples for less than $100 canadian.

here's what i have:
dell dimension 2400
widows xp/sp2
pentium 4 @ 2.8 (a single core proccessor)
2 gig ram, and a geforce fx5500 card which is not even pci-e it's pci slot.
no soundcard

if i can run fsx, so can you. you just need a card, and to play with your settings a little and definitely get a program (free) called alacrity pc

Hi all,
War.Ace what make is your machine.Yes you do need a decent graphics card.Nvidea or ATI.But please check whether you have an AGP or PCI-E slot or as my Son found out no slot at all.YES folks for the sake of cheapness some companies have been known to remove the graphics slot.If you let us know we can then say what type of card you should get.
