I found the YAL-1 on the Project Opensky website. http://www.projectopensky.com/ I thought it unusual that nobody has mentioned it yet. Here she is coming out of Shemya (PASY).

The readme states it is FS2004 only. How is it performing in FSX, does it have a DVC?

Sorry i dont find any VC as i tried that out. A nice plane but the sound is from a default one and theres no VC. So far bad for me cause i fly only from VC. But with a bit of work it could be a beauty with good sound and VC. But i dont have that much wisdom to put that together.

I don't know a lot about Project Open Sky, what I do know is that they are an AI production house. They make some really nice models, but their main position is doing AI aircraft for Flight Sim. They don't normally do anything with the interiors although an enterprising individual could probably find a way.:salute:

Errm, nope. They're are not AI developers. In fact, far from it. Their FDEs and models are amongst the best and most advanced freewares. Just the fact that some people might use them as AI doesn't mean they are made specifically for AI use. Hell, I've seen people using PMDG birds for AI. Quite ridiculous.

POSky people have been around since FS2000. Long before any fancy overcomplicated overpriced buggy payware, there was the simple, neat and free work of Hiroshi Igami and Yosuke Ube. It's a real shame they chose to stay in FS9.

They do have a number of FSX models as well, now, which means you can alias in the default FSX (or another) VC model if you want one. I currently have POSky B737-600, -700 and -800 models installed, all of which are using the default B73NG VC and Ernie Alston's ISG1 FMC set.

I don't fly them much, but they're available and work.

I believe at least their CRJ-700 is also FSX, but couldn't tell you exactly which models are and aren't without looking on their site.

I stand corrected. I've never had any interest in Commercial aircraft, I know their aircraft have been used for AI, I assumed that's all they did and "yes" I understand that just because an airplane is used for AI doesn't mean that's all it's good for.

I normally don't go into these flying tubes, but because I worked on the project with the Directed Energy Lab at Huntsville before I retired, I'm natuarlly interested. But it seems that it's strictly a texture. Where would be the 747 that it's based on?

Their FDEs and models are amongst the best and most advanced freewares.

Models yes, but the FDE is hugely disputed.

I personally find their 737 FDE awful, so I've merged it with Kittyhawk's 737NG one. It offers a much better experience.

I believe at least their CRJ-700 is also FSX, but couldn't tell you exactly which models are and aren't without looking on their site.

The CRJ7 is native, the new CRJ9 isn't (yet) and the CRJ2 never got updated.

To be honest, I haven't followed any of their work since they officially announced they won't be doing FSX addons nearly four years ago. I'm not sure who does their FDEs nowadays. But all the files done by Warren (also one of the founders of CLS) were nothing less than spectacular. Their A330, for instance, was spot on.

The fuselage is modified appropriately to accurately reflect the YAL-1. The real YAL-1 is based at Edwards AFB. More info below-

As for Posky's FDE's; I think they represent how we expect heavy aircraft to fly, but do not represent how heavy aircraft actually do fly. The only airliners in my inventory that feel 'right' to me are the CS 727 & 757 (Coincidentally also the only payware airliners I have and that's only because they were on sale). Most 'heavies' are way to sluggish for me.
This weekend I saw a C-17 get thrown around the skies like it was a much smaller aircraft, making circles almost within the limits of the airbase. No C-17 I've seen so far can replicate that performance.

I can only speak about Warren's 737 FDE and it was like flying a brick and that's certainly not what a 737 is supposed to feel like.

The Project Open Sky (Posky) web site is down since a few days... http://www.projectopensky.com/

Anybody have some information? I know the story about the split with Free Sky Project, but even if the Posky web site was not updated since 2010, it was still a huge ressource of excellent aircrafts, repaints, etc...

Free Sky (http://www.freeskyproject.com/) and Sky Spirit (http://www.flightinfo.jp/kaitou/ and http://<wbr>ssp.cyber-ninja.jp/ (http://ssp.cyber-ninja.jp/)) are still online, but I hope all the original Posky files are not lost...

How do you put the default 747 VC to this YAL-1 ?

Hi,

First, copy the B747_400_interior model from the B747 and add this line to YAL-1 model.cfg
interior=B747_400_interior

Then copy/add the texture files to each YAL texture folder.

You can use the default 747 panel or just copy/add the VC section to the panel.cfg you're using.

Thanks Don - Yes good news the Posky web site is back online! :jump:

While searching for some old Posky files, I found that the Sky Spirit 767 was converted to native FSX by Hiroshi Igami:
http://ssp.cyber-ninja.jp/SSP2010Update.html

So you'll need the original FS9 767 version here to build a complete aircraft...
http://www.projectopensky.com/index.php?app=downloads&showcat=18

...or here for some more japanese airlines:
http://www.flightinfo.jp/kaitou/posky/ssp767v5/

Here's a 767-300F cargo (model OSX763FV5_CF6-80C--LL.mdl). I'll merge it with the Captain Sim 767 interior (payware). You can try a Just Flight 757 Freemium interior merge (free!).

I must be doing something wrong...

Sometimes you need to restart FSX to see the effect of a change in a "model.cfg" file.

And you need to adjust the eyepoint in the "aircraft.cfg" file. No miracle here, you'll have to find the right eyepoint by trying, testing, reloading the plane, etc... For a Posky 747-400 with the default 747 VC it might be eyepoint=-32.500, -2.000, 11.100, not sure with the Yal...

Edit: The Yal 747 is not FSX native (OSYAL1A_V4.mdl), so this VC swap is not possible... Too bad... Only some 747-400 where converted to FSX... Here they are (scroll down):
http://www.projectopensky.com/index.php?app=downloads&showcat=69

And here:
http://sky.geocities.jp/SkySpirit2010/POSKY747-8FUpdate.html

Some are very nice! Don't give up yet! This is the FSX native 747-400 V4 (Skyspirit OSX748V4_GENX.MDL):

What about a YAL colored regular 747? Keep the YAL textures you already have, choose this native FSX Open Sky 747-400F here (http://www.projectopensky.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=407), merge the VC of your choice, et voilą !

Thanks to Hiroshi Igami for his dedication to keep the Posky heritage alive!

Always wondered if Hiroshi would at some point do an FSX model for the 767. No VC just didn't excite enough. This worked like a charm and the model is one of their very best. Thanks very much for the steer.

Somebody had the wonderful idea to backup all the Posky files after the closure of the Project Open Sky web site last month:
http://poskyarchive.com/

To browse thru all the repaints, use this Google Image link:
www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=site:poskyarchive.com

Hiroshi Igami is regularly uploading model updates here (mostly FS9, and native FSX as well for some aircrafts):

UKMIL (http://www.ukmil.org.uk) has one... No VC, but compatible with any FSX interior:

Hiroshi Igami (ex Posky, now SkySpririt) has a native FSX 767-KC, and is maybe working on an FSX Awacs version (E-767)...

Vonstroheim, where can I get the JASDF KC-767 base model (with textures, cfg/airfile, etc..)

Download the "KC767J_Multiplayer Special Beta test IH27" here (http://ssp.cyber-ninja.jp/) (SSPMKC767JV5_CF6-80C_IH27.ZIP) and change the mdl file with the one found here (http://ssp.cyber-ninja.jp/SSP2010Update.html) (in the 767 military section: OSXKC767J.MDL.ZIP).

Alternate japanese livery here (http://www.flightinfo.jp/kaitou/posky/ssp762v5/) (but intended for the Awacs version).

For VC swap procedure and panel options... sorry, too much to list... and it's a matter of taste (default 737, JF freemium 757, captain sim 767, etc...)

It seems that i cannot use the boom of the FSX KC767J model. Turning on the light with gear do not make any effect to the boom.
Is there any way to operate the boom for the FSX KC767 model?

While Hiroshi Igami was busy on the 787, he took the time to build a 777-8X and 777-9X as well, with the new GenX engines... Very impressive... So far only available in a white livery, but 4 versions, 8X and 9X, FS9 regular and FSX native.

http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/4396/abbv.jpg

Get it here (http://ssp.cyber-ninja.jp/). Please note that this is not for the casual simmer, it's a do-it-yourself-work-in-progress kind of kit-aircraft... Posky style... Depicted here is the 777-8X (I fly it with the Captain Sim 777-200 VC...).

Dreamliner livery by Andy Nott (http://agnott.deviantart.com/) (skyspirit_777_9x_house.zip @ flightsim).
Based on the FS9 777-9X model by Hiroshi Igami (ssp779x_i61.zip @ flightsim).

For FSX you need to swap the FS9 mdl file by this one: SSPX779XV2--L.MDL (SSPX779XMDL_I70.ZIP @ skyspirit here (http://ssp.cyber-ninja.jp/): Be careful, this is not the "Rev2 Paris Airshow Research model 777-9X", but the regular (older) "Research model 777-9X").

And there was a time that the Italian Air Force had a nicely coloured tail on their KC-767 :adoration:, so it was time to put it on the Posky/SkySpirit2010 KC767J model. Then they took away the "tri-colori" and kept it simple in just grey. Unfortunately the only thing missing on the model is the under-wing pods. But it is a great plane to fly anyways, and it is also for multiplayer use. :jump:
