Greetings All,
Please hold your laughter to a dull roar!!
As a CFS "Die Hard", I am still attempting to put together a personalized HUD.
I know that what I am looking for is located within the HUD.gau, but I don't know how to extract the particular items.
This is a round about way of asking if anyone would please direct me to the following;
Hud Clock
Hud Throttle %
Hud Fuel %
No Background Readouts would also work for me. I have these items, but don't' know how to loose the backgrounds.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I gotta admit it's been a long time since I've messed around with the CFS & CFS2 HUD displays. I know that I've added gauges to em in the past but don't remember the specifics. I'll give myself a little refresher course tomorrow (my next day off of work) and see if I can help ya out more.

The default_panels.cfg works pretty similar to a regular panel.cfg.
The HUD gauges work just like any CFS1 and up "nested" gauge in that you call the gauge first then an ! and then the sub gauge.
Something like this... "cfs2hud!digital_readout" as the gauge name in the cfg file.

What type of no-background gauges are you thinking of? If I remember right, gauges used in the HUD will show up in your selected HUD color except for any part of the gauge face that is 0,0,0 (pure black)...which will be transparent.

Mike,
First off, thanks for responding.
I really need to get the terminology right!! What I am looking for are individual Digital readouts with no black background for Throttle%, Remaining Fuel% and a chronograph.
I want to put these on my panel using Cfgedit. And I want to use them to create my personal HUD. I have these gauges in my library, but they all show a black background when on my panel and a solid rectangle when in my HUD. This sure sounds like a Bitmap problem, HUH?
At the risk of being a name dropper, Jerry Beckwith has graciously sent me several of his HUD gauges, but the final three I need were lacking in the package.
Many thanks for your time and assistance.

I'm sorry.
I realize that a first post is now required, but what does "good job" have to do with the question?

I think kstan is just doing the obligatory 1st post...

Can't say that I've done a good job yet. I'm still getting things installed on my new rig, haven't taken the time to mess around with these HUD gauges anymore. Wed & Thurs are my next days off. Will be working with CFS2 then and I'll do some experimenting.

Thanks Mike, It's kinda what I figured. I thought it was just a little odd. I haven't really done a good job, either.
I'm sure that you have a lot going on. Any time that you can find for this will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

Well, I did a bit of poking around in the CFS2 HUD last night. Probably not the results you're looking for but here's a few things I rediscovered about working with the HUD...

The digital readout in the CFSHUD.gau has all those readout strings on one gauge...no way to split them off. You'll have to find some gauges (like the Beckwith ones you've got) that have each string gauge separate.

If you look at the default_panels.cfg in Notepad, you'll notice a couple unused HUD setups...HUD10 and HUD11. I added them to the active windows list at the top of the file to enable them. these are the ones I used in the past making my custom HUD...I just replaced the CFS2HUD gauges with regular gauges. This gave me a HUD that looks like the minipanels as used in FS9. In those two windows, you'll notice one command missing compared to HUD00 and HUD01..."hud_colors=1". Switching this off (set the 1 to 0) will allow the gauges to be displayed with it's regular bitmaps instead of being decreased down to to one color, but you can't use the toggle HUD color function to change the color of the HUD with that disabled.

I'm not sure why you're getting black backgrounds. Can you attach a copy of your cfg file? I'll compare it to what I'm seeing here.

Greetings Mike,
Would you be interested in taking a look at the gauges in question, if I sent them to you?

Yeah, go ahead and send them my direction. I'll see what I can see.

I'll be gone this weekend, but will monkey with them next week.
