Hi All,
This film clip shows the street/beach celebrations going on the day Japan surrendered. A pure gem. Enjoy!

I'm not sure who wrote the following article or who Dad is, but his four minute film taken on the day after VJ Day in Hawaii but it is a masterpiece.

"My Dad shot this film along Kalakaua Ave. in Waikiki capturing spontaneous celebrations that broke out upon first hearing news of the Japanese surrender. Kodachrome 16mm film. This is what Waikiki used to look like, before all the highrises. Notice the street car tracks in the pavement."

That was awesome. I've always had a slight disconnect to the black and white WWII footage, and the color in this film made it feel like real life.
