And it says it's FREE!

Who wants to be the first to download and report back?

I would, but I'm in the middle of a "small" project that's got my internet tied up for a while...

Maybe someday I'll learn to type and spel korrectley...

Interesting.

Any one (perferably from the american continent) taking the plunge and testing it for accuracy?

Link doesn´t work, so what´s this about?

the screen shots look a bit dodgy to be honest, it's landclass based scenery, some of the download links don't work for me and it's a long way from worrying Orbx's PNW!!

Tried the link. Spyware Doctor blocked it.

Same. Hard to test something that has inadequate download links.
...Has anyone seen any pictures of what it's suppose to be?

Edit........oops!!! I didn't realize I was in the FSX forum!!

Yup, a big 403 for me also. Earlier today the link worked OK, but I'm wondering if the traffic bombed the host it was on or not?

It's new vector scenery for North, Central and South America. Vector scenery is what draws the coastlines, roads, lakes, etc. Plus some mesh files, land class and other features.

Original link came from a posting at Flightsim. The developer is from Brazil, thus the Portuguese. Guess we will find out soon enough if it's any good. Remember... the Price is Right!

That's possible. I've got so much crap loaded on my system, I couldn't tell you what half of it does, I've probably duplicated so much it isn't even funny, so one more load of . . . .well, I probably don't need any more, lol.

Orbx is autogen'ed photoscenery, this is coastlines, rivers, lakes, landclass, roads and mesh using FSX's own textures.

If this was like Orbx and covering the whole continent the download would be like 50 Gbytes big.

I may give it a try myself once the links are up again. The only thing wasted would be time anyways.

Orbx is a mixture of photo textures, autogen and land class - which is why even with Orbx you still get roads going through golf courses and other weird things. It has more attention to detail than the default offering and is a much higher quality, but it's not 100% photo scenery otherwise nobody would be able to load Australia.

Where does the phototextures for the ground come into play then - apart from airport backgrounds?

I would like Taburet to come out with Central and South America, they or He is pretty good.

It doesn't....really.

The tiles may have been made based on photoscenery - but the ground is not photoscenery. It's just landclass, except in airports and certain locations.

I take it you get what I mean by tiles/landclass?

Mountain tops. Go into your FSX/ORBX/FTX_NA/FTX_NA_PNW06_CVX/Scenery folder and anything starting with 2_orthoimage is photoreal scenery. They use pretty descriptive names so you should be able to figure out what's what. Looks like about 60-80 separate photoreal files (too lazy to count them).

I think so. It's basically landclass with cutom tiles. Kind of like UTX with GEX.

I don't have any Orbx product. They don't cover any areas that are interesting for me, so their products don't warrant touching my (tight) budget. ;)

There is a preview package aviable now at flightsim.com that contains pictures and a link to download the scenery. It is a bit more than 2 GB, done it earlier, but I am not sure when I get a chance to properly test it...

This looks great and it would be wonderful to have accurate vector scenery for Central & South America. I currently have UTX for the U.S. and Canada. It looks like this package covers all of the Americas without the option to leave out North America.

Has anyone with UTX found any compatibility issues? Is it simply a matter of putting this scenery below UTX in the config? I'd hate to download 2GB only to delete it due to conflicts.

Thanks for any input.

Someone at Avsim got it all downloaded, using his 35mb FIOS internet connection!!! Was still trying to get it all extracted, last I checked.

For the CONUS there shouldn't be any conflicts with UTX, with proper layering. UTX goes in and pretty much excludes everything before it and then replaces with it's features. So stuff from the Brazlian developer would go underneath the UTX entries in the scenery library.

Have to redownload one part since it apparently contains a broken file. This wouldn't be bad at all if I didn't have to wait those feckin' 390 seconds before every download. :a1451:

I could've been done yesterday an cleared the pipes for someone else to download, but noooooo, the host operator has to send everyone into that forced hold, dammit! :a1451:

In between aircraft stuff I've managed to test AGS yesterday. Actually, I just compared it...

One: Colorado Springs.

Default:

AGS...sadly no difference (or I'm just blind).

Two: Rio De Janeiro.

AGS:

From my short test I guess that AGS concentrates more on the southern part of the american continent than the northern one. But that's okay, there is UTX for that anyways.

I'll keep the scenery. Too much time was invested for the download to just throw it away.
