Folks, just letting you know that my favorite little airport - Ingalls Field - will be released next weekend. Ingalls is located at near 4000ft amsl at Hot Springs, VA and has a 5600ft runway. Nice field for IMCs/IFR inclined pilots. More project and real-world airport pics can be viewed at my new website http://islandsim.com/.

Wow, that's looking nice!

The thought that popped in my head almost sounded the same, Jim. But mine went something along the line of "Wow, that's some nice looking..... stuff!":ernae:

Thanks, Jim. Just need to add the light poles, gas tanks, and minor custom ground textures to the scene and it should be ready to go.

Very coool..

I've flown in/out of there (for real) many times..

If I'm not mistaken, it's the highest airport open to the public, east of the Mississippi..

I've got a neat set of photos as I neared it, and one on short final to 25... almost like landing on an aircraft carrier .. :jump:

Thanks Jon and Brett. Not sure about the highest public port east of the Mississippii Brett, but you could be right ...will double check on that. And it is indeed an "aircraft carrier" airport. Most ops are from the 25 approach if I recall.

i will definately have to get this. It will be my first airport add-on. I have flown in out of the air port in the real world. I am not a pilot, but i have landed and taken off here from the right seat of a Piper Navajo. Because the airport is sort of on a plateau, landings are interesting. There is also a grand old hotel on the side of the side of the mountain top, just below the airport. I forget the name of it.

Planning on any more VA airports? I live in the Norfolk area.... lots of good stuff to model around the area. :jump:

Much appreciate the compliments, Bill. CLMooring, the grand ole hotel you're referring to is the Homestead Resort and is situated within 2 or so miles within the foothills of the Allegheny mountains. Drove past there in the winter but is gorgeous during the Spring/Summer seasons. A breath-taking view also during the Fall over the George Washington National forest. I agree there are some nice VA airports to showcase in FSX.

I found a thread with photos from my last flight to HSP..

It is the highest airport, public airport, east of the Mississippi. There are a couple airports over 4000msl, but they're private.

Thanks Theo. Brett, excellent pictures. There's a small feeder (bush) road that runs just below the 25 end which I forgot to add and your 3rd shot did remind me. Yep, I've been scouting around for high alto strips (private and public) in the area (WV, VA, NC, SC) and have come up with a few so far, but will need more pics to develop them. The second project which looks promising to come out right after Ingalls is my hometown airport, Eastern WV Regional-Shepherd Field (KMRB). Went down to the airport the other day and the Port Manager was gracious enough to take me around the civilian side of the field to take shots. The local WV National Guard won't allow me on the military side of the field to capture their establishment close-up, but can do so only from afar. Here are a few shots of the project thus far.
