I recieved the following PM from some charecter called CARLOSDEVIL.

Cromwell;harrysan;zagiel1111;deafal;rodnoc!

Spam sending from your computer was detected.
We highly recommend you to check your computer and perform online virus check at our site immediately: http://security-2010.webcindario.com/online-scanner/ (http://security-2010.webcindario.com/online-scanner/)
If you do not pass this test* we will have to delete your account and forward a complaint to your ISP with attached log file (your IP address, etc.).

This looks highly dodgy to me. I have no idea who CARLOSDEVIL is and no intention of visiting his site.

Anyone know who this is and what he is up to?

Cheers

He's up to mischief at best. See the thread here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=37182

I don't understand why the admins here don't ban him and his IP.

If I get mail or PMs from people I don't know asking me to open an attachment, follow a link, asking me for login info (or confirmation of this) or threaten me that certain services will be terminated if I don't do any of the above, I ALWAYS use the button that says "delete"! Don't ever give info or react to such PMs or email!!

Bonafide companies have a different way of conveying such information and use different phrasing. They certainly won't approach you through Outhouse PM, probably not even by email. If anyone is going to complain to you about spam from your PC, it should be your ISP, not some virus/spam scanning club. It's a scam, so I say: In the bin!!

Report him. PM any of the admins, they're usually very quick to stamp on undesirable behaviour.

I got the same message from the same person about 2 weeks ago; I checked the username and it had been banned shortly after I received the message. Hopefully they will stay banned this time.

Anyone can amend their profile to put "Banned" in the description, location or signature. It doesn't mean that user is necessarily banned. But when the admins do it, banned he shall be.

This message was one I got via my normal email ( not from pm's). I would say this person is sending this rubbish on to you blokes after getting it in his own mail.( LOL) There is a snake in our birdhouse, lets hope he can be banned. :salute:

Fear not I have been informed he has ....er....how shall I put it....been disposed of!

Really pleased about that..apparently though.... I now owe someone called the "Godfather" a favour.

Probably he wants me to mow his lawn next weekend...but I over heard something about delivering a package....well postal is expensive these days.

Anyway Mr Spam has gone. And my patio has been relaid..."Godfather" did that as well...how nice!:jump:

If we don't get the PM ourselves, how are we supposed to know about it??

Soon as we are made aware of these, we DO take care of em!!
