Headed down to the NC Botanical Gardens this afternoon to play with my new lens........
all shots are hand-held (BIG mistake).

Awesome!

Yeah you've got to get a nice sturdy tripod to use with that lens. It is almost impossible to handhold it at f/8 or f/11 without having your ISO maxed out.

The 100 macro is sharp beyond words. It is way sharper than my 300mm L. As reviews and many users say, it is the most fun per dollar lens. :jump:

Thanks, Kiwi.....

Me thinks I'm gonna have a lot of fun with this baby.
Tomorrow I'm going to experiment with both monopod and tripod w/ remote release and see what happens.
Unfortunately, a lot of subjects that I want to get real close to won't wait for a tripod :mad:.
I'm also going to kick the ISO up to 800 / 1600 and see what happens ( I've never gone over 400).

I'll post results tomorrow...

Goshdangit LD, I have been bugging the wife for two weeks to go to the Botanical Gardens in CH or the Lewis Ginter Gardens in Richmond! You ain't helping matters! :>)

Great shots, glad yer enjoying that lens. Love the drops of water on the leaf.

That's a great price for it! I think I got mine for 540-550 ish. But I got the Canon hood and a B+W filter for it too for an extra 100 ish dollars.
