Nice work! Which paint is that?

The AS F-105, is another one of those under-appreciated releases.

Mal,

Think it was the 23rd TFS, 36th TFW, Bitburg AFB, Germany 1965.

Noddy, you inspired me to take up her for a flight...tough bird to fly...gotta pay attention at all times!

Might have to roll out the F-106, and maybe even the F-104...oh, oh.

Yes, it truly is a beautiful model and skins. The sounds are first rate as well. Too bad it hasn't gotten more "air time" here at the Outhouse. One of my favs for FSX.

Regards,

LT1

I've been waiting for an F-105 Thread! Here are some screenshots of a low level cross country that 4 of us did in Thuds. This is on FSX multiplayer. We recorded the flight using FS Recorder so that we could go back and take screenshots later. Each thud is piloted by a separate person.

We wanted to do some formation aerobatics, but we were pretty sure the Thud would either auger us into the ground or blow up on us if we tried. We settled for a cross country on the deck at 450 KTS. That thud is like a Cadillac going straight and level.

If any of you guys flying the Mighty Wonder Thud multiplayer would like to join my buddy and I for a few hops over the badlands from Korat drop me a forum PM, we would be delighted to hear from you.

I see your flying a 34th bird there. Any chance you have a 469th paint job hidden away somewhere?

I know the guy who was the assistant wing commander at Korat flying 105s in '67. Also, In '68-69 my father did a tour out of Korat with the 469th in the first F-4E squadron deployed to the theater. I just finished editing a film for the squadron with some great footage of F-4Es and a few shots of base life at Korat.

Do you have the Project Vietnam Scenery for the base? I think those guys did a great job with it.

Additionally, you did a great job with those videos. Watched all of them and was very pleased. This Thud really deserves more attention that it has gotten.

Chris

P.S.

Will fly with you anytime.

We have a custom scenery by yours truly of RTAFB Korat if you want to check it out (not for further redistribution). Includes a memorial to "Roscoe":

http://www.navyair.com/SEA/scenery/RTAFBKoratV5_2_Dec_2008.zip

We're using the SEA mesh by Werner F. Vogt:

http://www.navyair.com/SEA/scenery/Southeast_Asia_Mesh.zip (http://www.navyair.com/SEA/scenery/Southeast_Asia_Mesh.zip)

plus FScene tiles for Asia and some other scenery add-ons and the excellent Vietnam Project scenery.

It would be great to get together for MP flying in that area! It is a lot more fun with more pilots.

Is there a time/date that is good for you Chris/Jonraptor?

Some nice flying, there. I don't have the V2 Thud, yet, but it's on my list.

The area you are ingressing to appears to be the High Desert area of Southern California. Looks like you came in over Cajon Pass, from the San Bernardino area. I drove that road many many times, as I was based at George AFB, now Southern California International Airport, Victorville. (Though it is NOT used as a passenger airport, instead it is a Logistical Supply and Storage Center for Civil Airliners, much like the boneyard at Davis Monthan AFB in Arizona.) I lived in San Diego during that time, (born and raised.) 1969-1973 at George. We had the F-4 there, but a lot of Thuds would come TDY for training at our bombing/gunnery range, Cuddeback Lake, northeast of Edwards AFB.

I'm afraid I don't recognize the airport you are doing the low pass over, tho.

Again, nice shots.

I did Peter Foley's Thud from the 469th on one of my repaints.

Thanks for the images from the multiplayer flight. Great to see my textures up there all at once.

The formation flying in the photos was really well done!
