So, what cars have you people owned over the years?

1982 – A 1979 Chevy Monte Carlo (cool car, sold it)
1985 – A 1970 VW Bus (loved it! sold it)
1986 – A Dodge Colt (small car, ok, sold it)
1989 – A Mitsubishi Montero, 4WD SUV, awesome. It was “crashed into” and totaled in 1999. Still my favorite vehicle ever.
2000 – Ford Explorer (sold it, didn't like it)
2001 – Toyota Tundra (still have it, love it)

1967 Dodge Dart (Mom sold it when I went on active duty)
1969 Chevy Camaro (307 engine, nothing fancy but a great car)
1974 Chevy Camaro LT (350 engine, nice car but lousy gas mileage)
1977 Toyota Corolla Hatchback (another great car, totalled it in a side-swipe accident 1982)
1982 Pontiac Sunbird
1982(?) Chevy Chevette (bought used, wife mainly drove it but a decent little car)
1988 Chevy Cavalier (wife again)
1986 Nissan Pickup (bought used in 1990, great vehicle)
1996 Dodge Dakota Pickup (my current ride, bought used in 1999, another great vehicle)

Sterling Kit Car (loved it)
Austin Healy Spridget 1275 CC hollow door
2 Volkswagen Vans; one with a V-6; both second generation; one was a westafalia (with the V6). The regular VW powered bus was awesome. Installed shag carpet and Land Rover Discovery seats and sound system. Drove it for a long time. 4th gear required a bungie cord to hold it in gear. Handled bumps like a U-Boot hitting waves in the Atlantic.
BMW Bavaria 3.0S (4 door version), restored in metallic green, full engine rebuild, a true dream (loved it)
2 Cadillacs; one Coupe De Ville
2 Fiat Mirifiori's (like a Brava, early version)
Fiat X-1/9 (repainted to Porsche red, handled best at 90 MPH, always working on the engine)
Kawasaki 400 motorcycle
Honda 450 motorcycle
Opel Kadette 2 door
Dodge Daytona with full Shelby ground effects; non turbo automatic (loved it)
94 Chrysler Laser; black turbo 4 speed; (loved it) Terribly fast. Talking voice system. Drove it up the coast of California.
88 Range Rover. Always ran good. Worked on the engine once; head gaskets. Owned it for 10 years.
Infiniti Q45

There could be more.. I have to remember... I would find these at very affordable prices and fix them up. Some I bought in prestine condition.

EDIT: I remembered one. X1F Xotic 3 wheel car; Porsche powered prototype. 2 door with one wheel in front. (I tried to start my own car company... )

- My parents' 1969 VW Bug (117,000 miles when I got it....217K when it was rear-ended and totaled)
- 1975 Toyota Carolla (82-85)
- 1985 Honda CRX Si (New)
- 1987 Honda CRX Si (New)
- 1992 Honda Del Sol (New) - Hated it...I don't care what they say, the color red DOES attract cops
- 1994 Nissan Pickup (New) - 2 wheel drive and not real good in the snow...
- 2002 Subaru Outback (currently has 180K miles...) - Insanely GREAT car

....there may be a Mini Cooper S in my future....dunno yet.

I will start from the present...

2003 Honda CRV - love it still have it 55K miles
2001 Hyundai Santa Fe - was a headache - too many recalls (newer models are great)
(i forgot the model) Ford Escort 2 door red (bought it brand new - my first brand new car)
another Ford SRX (i think recalls made me give it away)
Dodge Intrepid 1998 (was car napped - when found - all tires gone all sound system gone - won 3 trophies on car shows)
Yamaha motorbike (yes, I am a rider too)

Where do I start? I worked at a dodge dealership, so my DDs were based on my performance. the asterisk implies that I didn't own, but daily drove wherever I had to go as a perk of my job.

1976 Cadillac Coupe Deville (60k original miles)
1988 Mustang GT convertible
*2001 Dodge Durango SLT
*2001 Dodge Durango R/t
*2001 Dodge Viper
1991 Mustang GT
1995 Mustang SVT Cobra the project car, I've built three different motors for it. It currently has a supercharged Keith Black 306
2004 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning
2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra (mystichrome edition)
2007 Dodge Durango

I still own the vehicles in red. The two cobras are for sale.

at 17 , i saved money from doing plenty of flower delivery at my family's store and got an aprilia red rose 125cc exactly the same model and color as in the picture ( i absolutely loved it and miss it so much )
7309
when i turned 18 and got a driver's licence , i drove my parent's 1990 fiat fiorino which i hated , and later got my own first car , a 1990 peugeot 205 XAD . great little that my parents are still using back home and still runs great with almost 500 000KM on the original engine .
upon arriving in the US, my first car was a 1986 saab 9000 turbo , awesome car but too expensive for me at the time to keep up with maintenance wise .
it was then followed by a 1986 dodge conquest turbo ( not built by the chrysler group per say but built by mistubishi in Japan and imported in the US by dodge ) , this car had a good , powerful engine and the very best cockpit layout and driver seating position of any car i have ever driven . i want to get another one someday .
next down the line was a 1981 chevrolet camaro berlinetta , small block 267ci V8 . extremely low powered but incredibly reliable engine ( infinitely more reliable than my roommate's , at the time , 305 V8 in his 1992 firebird . actualy ,a friend who used to be a mechanic for a local chevy dealer told me that as far as reliability goes , the only engine ever put by the factory on any camaro that was as good as the 267 was the 327ci on the first gens )
after this one , i bought last year a 2000 hyundai tiburon . not as fast as i thought it would be but a solid , reliable ride .
i hope to be able to get a nissan 300ZX soon , which is , from many of my friends who once owned one , an extraordinary car . it as always been to me the most beautiful car to ever come out of japan , right after the still fairly out of my budget LOL honda/acura NSX and the incredibly rare and expensive 1967/70 toyota 2000GT . and hopefully , someday , one of my absolute my dream cars , a lotus exige S260 and either one of my all time dream bike , an older generation yamaha Vmax or a 996 ducati monster.

1962 Dodge Dart (paid $35 for it and it only had low and reverse gears)
1960 Studebaker Lark 8 (drove it until I went into the Navy, $40 and all the gears worked although it'd pop out of 2nd every now and then. Very tough ol' car. It was still in my uncle's junkyard 5 years ago)
1964 Ford 105E Anglia (rusted out POS)
1966 Ford 105E Anglia (English Ford that I owned when I was stationed in Scotland)
1960 Royal Enfield 500 Super Meteor twin (first bike also in Scotland)
1966 Triumph 2000 sedan (should have kept the 66 Anglia)
1970 Triumph Bonneville 650 (didn't have it long)
1971 Chevy Nova (first hot rod)
1967 Pontiac GTO Ram Air (very darned quick, sold the Nova to buy it)
1975 Pontiac Lemans Sport Coupe with the 455 engine (was totaled in a head on when a pickup came around a sharp curve on my side of the road, loved this one. Engine eventually went into a 67 Chevy pickup a few years later)
1974 Chevy Vega (souped up Vega engine and drive train, bought it not running and used the running gear out of a smashed up 73 Vega GT to rebuild it)
1965 Chevy pickup with a '71 Pontiac GTO 400 engine in it (had the truck that needed an engine and a totaled out GTO that I bought for parts)
1971 Chevy pickup (heavy duty camper special, darn that thing would haul some heavy loads, I don't miss the constant 8mpg though)
1980 Jeep CJ5 (first vehicle I bought new and probably the one I miss the most)
1966 Cadillac Coupe de Ville (wife's)
1972 Chevy Vega GT (traded the Cadillac for it)
1965 Chevy pickup (straight six and tough as nails, wish I still had it)
1972 Ford Grand Torino wagon (bought for a work and fishing car, never could keep brakes on it)
1985 Ford F-150 Supercab (new)
1967 Mercedes 250S that had a 200D engine in it. (what a POS, but it got me around for a while until I got something better (VW Rabbit))
1980 VW Rabbit Diesel (bought it used for $150 and drove it for several years, another I miss, totaled out in a wreck in New Orleans)
1974 Triumph Trident 750 (last bike, my brother in law borrowed it and it caught fire with him, he just let it burn)
1989 GMC S-Jimmy (last new vehicle I bought)
1983 Chevy Suburban (wife's, bought to replace the Jimmy after we had kid #4 and no longer could fit everyone in the Jimmy or the Rabbit)
1982 GMC Sierra (originally a six, but I swapped in a very warmed up 283 V-8 and put a custom paint job on it)
1992 Camaro RS 25th Anniversary Edition (mid life crisis-mobile)
(after the Camaro, I bought the '83 Suburban back from the now ex-wife and drove it for a couple more years)
1985 Ford Bronco II 4x4 (another I miss)
1997 Chevy C1500 Cheyenne extended cab (another with continual brake problems, other than that it was a pretty solid truck)

and now have a 2005 GMC Sierra crew cab 1/2 ton with all the bells and whistles.
and a 2002 Chevy Cavalier for buzzing around town

These are just the ones I bought for myself or my wife. There were dozens of others that I'd buy cheap, fix up and re-sell. Like the time I bought 3 junk VW Beetles for $100. Made one good one, another so-so one and sold what was left to someone that was building dune buggies.

Forgot to add that I do own my Dad's old 1947 2 ton Chevy wrecker, but it's at my sister's in NC. I need to figure some way to get here.

Here's a few pics

My first was a Hyundai Pony XP. It was cheap, quite roomy, had a nice colour and oversteered at 30 mph..
Next up was a Renault 5 GT Turbo; about 150 bhp in a 800 kilo car! Tons of fun if the electrics worked.
Third car was a VW Golf (Rabbit) II; fourth a Seat Ibiza 5-door.
Best car Ihad so far was #5; a blue Seat Cordoba SX Coupé with almost all options. It was totalled after only six months unfortunately.
After that I bought a Ford Escort (1995 European model) which Ihad for a couple of years until rust became an issue.
Since two and a half years now I drive a little Ford Ka (70 hp) version.

I used to have a Citroen AX. Made of plastic and recycled baked bean tins. The West's equivalent of the Trabant, and about as good.

http://i793.photobucket.com/albums/yy214/ndicki/Citroen_ax_white01.jpg

That one isn't mine, but mine was just as good. It doesn't have crumple zones, by the way - it IS a crumple zone. If you hit anything head-on, you'll be trepanned by the edge of the roof.

Subsequently, a number of Skoda Octavias, culminating in my present car, a 140bhp TDi Octavia MkII with leather trim and all the goodies. Holds 130mph on German motorways even with a full load, good roadholding, acceleration, etc. Not surprising when you consider that it has the same chassis as the Audi TT...

http://i793.photobucket.com/albums/yy214/ndicki/skoda_octavia.jpg

Not mine - mine is pale blue-grey.

The dark ages:
1. Ford fiesta Mk 1 (will never forget it, my first car, sturdy little rustcrumb, would like a classic now, but not many survived the rust)
2. VW Polo (1) with constant engine trouble (great german quality;-)
3. Opel Kadette City (even more rust, leaking tank, multicolored spareparts-monster, didnīt last too long)
(in between: driving dadīs company vehicles: Audi 100 (170bhp!), Mercedes Benz 230E (great ride, great style, horrible seats for larger people)
4. Renault Rapid (microvan - loved it, but horrible camping deck-chairs, unreliable, rusty though new, dangerous, cause bhp much too low for the weight)

The very dark ages:
5. VW Golf (Rapid) 2. (Sturdy, practical, but lotīs of technical problems, unsexy, bad paintjob - "fading red")
6. VW Golf (Rapid) 2 (four doors, reliable, cheap, unfortunately a bit old allready, but exceedingly uncool;-) Being an old Diesel it became tax-expensive...)

Epiphany!
7. Lancia Nuova Delta 1.6 (the senior version with 75bhp, superior handling and driving being a hatchback, superb seats, unfortunately very bad car-electronics = german Boschmotronic!;-)
8. Lancia Y LS 1.2 (superb drive for a micro car, full Alcantara interior! great looks! A bit worn from previous owner)
9. Lancia Ypsilon 1.2 16V MOMO Sport (great look, my dream car, BUT horrible ergonomics for my size, and though "sport" inferior softish handling - dissapointment!)
10. Fiat Grande Punto (great design, great space, but mediocre handling, bad buildquality and silver - yikes, how could I!)
11. Fiat Panda 100HP (100bhp, no turbogap with only 800kg - a pure rocket, superior handling, divine brakes, endless fun - downside: very hard ride, no suspension at all - no good for old bones)
12. Lancia Musa Oro (95bhp) (spacious like no other, stylish, rare color, superior seats, limousine handling, quite fast - though not the alcantara-leather-version I still love it!;-))

Let's see... Been a few.

Dad's 69 Chevy C/10 pickup (250 cid inline 6 and a three speed manual on the column)

76 Jeep Cherokee ($700 rust bucket. Drove it till it died)

77 Plymouth Volare (Totaled when I got rear ended)

80 Pontiac Phoenix (bought it with the insurance money from the Volare)

79 Chevy Malibu

84 Ford Ranger Pickup two wheel drive (the first of many Rangers I've owned)

71 Ford LTD 4 door hardtop (Bought from one of the salesman at the dealership I worked for)

87 Ford Ranger (2.9L V-6 two wheel drive, loved that truck. Previous owner did crappy maintenance so it blew the engine a year and a half after I bought it due to sludge in the oil pan. Found 90 weight oil in the transmission when it was supposed to have ATF in the 5 speed)

86 Thunderbird 3.8L V-6. Another great car. It's still around too. With nearly 500,000 miles on the second engine and transmission (Acording to the guy who bought it from where I traded it in)

90 Dodge Dakota: What a piece of Crap! Couldn't keep rear brakes on it, and for the lack of a $0.02 paper gasket, the bottom of the aluminum transmission corroded (Against the steel mount) and leaked all the oil out causing the 5 speed to mangle itself. Only Vehicle I ever had repo'ed. By my own request too. Thing was a money pit.

84 Plymouth Omni: paid $100 for it. Drove it a month before the Automatic Trans blew up. Got $100 for it as scrap.

86 Chevy Celebrity Eurosport: Had this one a month before a kid ran a light and t-boned me. Car saved my life.

89 Ford Ranger extended cab 2 wheel drive (rust bucket i bought with the crappy insurance settlement I got for the Chevy)

86 Ford Tempo: beater car with no radio but it got me to work

86 Olds Cutlass: decent beater that did the same as the Tempo

77 Ford Ranchero GT: My first really nice muscle car. Had a kid back into it and smash in the front fender. Ended up rusting into the ground because I couldn't find the parts to fix it back up. Had to junk it :salute:

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y215/Brian_Gladden/RANCHERO.jpg

84 Volvo 245 Wagon: Rusty but a tank.

94 Ford Thunderbird: 4.6 V-8, loaded. Great car. Daily driver.

94 Ford Taurus SHO: Holy crap that car was fast (When it ran right) I didn't know a thing about SHO's when I bought it. I do now and I would have never bought the one I did now that I know what I know now. Blew up the Transmission (auto) and junked it.

96 Ford Ranger (See a pattern yet?) 3.0 V-6 4X4. Another rust bucket that I paid $1,500 for. drove it a year and traded it in on a 97 Ford Windstar.

Drove the Windstar a year before trading in on a 98 Sable. Just got rid of that last summer.

94 Ford Crown Victoria: $400 beater that I drove for 3 months before selling for $200 to a guy who wanted it for a demo derby car.

Current ride: 92 Mercury Grand Marquise. True Granny car. I'm the second owner and the previous owner was a little old lady who rarely drove it. I even have the window sticker.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y215/Brian_Gladden/DSC00052.jpg

And last is my Work truck (Owned by the company I work for) a 2002 Chevy S-10 4X4 I drive this more than anything.

1974 Mercury Capri (worst car known to Man -- took a great German Electrical system, a great U.S. Engine, and a Great UK Tranny --- and destroyed all of them in one big pile of junk).
1982 Toyota Celica (great, but too small)
1986 Jeep Cherokee (love it, sold at 170,000 miles)
1996 Chevy Tahoe (great, but too big)
2001 Jeep Liberty (just right)
2006 Jeep Liberty (bought it used for less than 10K)
2007 Lexus ES 350 (bought it used also....I love this one)

Oh, 1998 Harley Davidson Sporty.....not one of the big bikes, but man this thing could fly.

That being said, I backed the Lexus into my daughter's car this week. She came home from school and parked in the driveway, and I didn't know she was there and backed right into her Saturn. Damage to the Saturn was nil, but the Lexus is costing me $1300.00. Can't even blame anyone....I knew I was going to do that eventually.

Now, the Lexus has a back up camera, so my wife asked me "well, did you use the camera?" My response being, "why yes, it showed the extent of the damage quite well." :icon_lol:

Hmm.. Hope I can remember them all.

In college it was a 52 Mercury Monterey. After college I went from a 64 Corvair Monza to a 66 Sunbeam Tiger followed by a 67 Cougar XR7.

The wedding gift for my wife and I was a 1973 Pontiac Grand Am right off the showroom floor. We later sold that for a custom Chevy Beretta (can't remeber which year).

When we needed a bigger car to haul around the in-laws the Beretta was traded in for a Pontiac Bonneville SSI. The wife's car is now a 2000 Chevy Impala LS.

In 1980 when we need a second vehicle, we got a 1966 MGB Roadster. Drove it on weekdays, and restored it on weekend. In 1983 we traded that in for a 1974 Corvette Roadster which I still drive today.

Our third vehicle started out with a Ford Courier pickup. That was replaced with a 69 Chevy S-10 SS pickup.

My father bought me my first car at 8 years of age in order to learn to drive...an early 70's Mk1 Ford Escort 1.3l 2 door (wish I had it now as they're worth $$$$$).

When I turned 17 and could legally hold a driver's licence I bought a mint condition 1977 BL Mini into which I transplanted a 1275cc engine and stuck on a set of 10" Minilite alloys.

Soon after this I bought a basketcase 1972 VW Beetle 1200cc in order to teach myself car restoration and mechanics. Restored the car to original showroom spec over 6 months.

Next car was a 1977 VW Beetle which was restored over a 4 year period, ever nut and bolt, rubber seal EVERYTHING brand new. Built it in a Cal-look style (very popular in the early 90's) with Porsche guards red paint, early 1960's panels, Porsche 911 headlights, Ford Fiesta XR2i interior, slammed suspension, Imported some Polished metal EMPI 8 spoke wheels with fat (rear) and skinny (front) tyres. Fully chromed/polished/painted rebuilt 1641cc engine. Had it on the road 3 weeks when it was written off by a half blind farmer. :-(

Next car was a 1987 Renault 9 diesel van...a sh!tter, only bought as I'd a supply of free diesel.

Next came a 1983 VW Golf GTi 1.8l restored and modified.

Had an '82 Golf GTi 1.6l for a little bit too.

1986 VW Golf GTi Cabrio.

1986 VW Golf GTi 8v mk2.

Brand new 1996 VW Polo 6N.

Brand new 1997 VW Polo 6N...modified, lowered, big alloys, massive sound system with dvd etc.

1996 mk3 VW Golf GTi 16v...with every available option. Tweaked and modified....managed to get 147mph out of it once...on a private road ;). Loved this car even won best in class at a national VW show. Going to a VW meet one day and hit a patch of oil on the road...spun into a tree and an oncoming car and was lucky not to be killed. Car was written off.

1997 VW Vento...modified and transplanted most of the mk3 GTi's running gear and full heated leather interior.

2000 VW Bora TDi modified, performance increased, lowered on 18" Audi alloys.

2001 Audi A4 TDi 130bhp, performance increased but not really modded.

2001 BMW 320D SE (my current car for the past 6/7 years)

Think that's the lot...had a few other cars when I was in my teen's but not road legal. I've also had several company vans over the years when I was working as a sales rep.

74 Monte Carlo (my favorite ride)
81 Mustang (4 banger/stick but unbalanced enough to make it fun to drive)
70 Opel GT (the micro vette)
84 BMW 633csi (european model-german gauges hard to read, cracked frame, had to sell)
68 Firebird (owned 3 months-sold for GREAT price)
71 Buick Skylark ( bought from 'little old lady' original owner, rebuilt by me, sold to ex girlfriend)
80 Olds Cutlass (74 vette drivetrain installed, HORRIBLE gas mileage but vaporizes the tires on command)- still own her- 27 years now.

Bikes:
76 Honda CB360 (my first bike, and first speeding ticket)
71 Triumph Trophy special (still working on this one)
83 Kaw GPz 750 (my daily commuter, showroom condition)

You guys have some nice ones listed in here...and some of the ever so common ones too.

My list in rough chronological order:
69 Dodge Coronet 4dr (bought new by my grandparents, passed to dad, then to me)
51 IH L-110 (another of grandpa's hand-me-downs. it's my "never-ending project" truck)
75 Dodge Dart Sport
73 Dart Sport
68 Coronet R/T 383/4spd (young drunken stupidity snatched this one from me less than two weeks after I bought it)
72 Gold Duster
74 Dart Sport
76 F-150 4x4
48 Ford F-6 (another grandpa's toy...still in use at the farm)
82 84 and 87 Buick Regals (I still love the 3.8L/4.1L Buick V6!)
65 Dodge A100 short wheelbase 8-door van (bought it for $25, won a bet for $50 that I wouldn't get it back on the road).
67 Dodge A100 long wheelbase van (just trying to get paint on it is another never-ending project!)
93 Ford Tempo
01 Olds Alero (how did this POS sneak in my garage?!?!?)
90 Nissan D21 4x4 pickup (one tough little bugger!)
80 Chrysler Cordoba
65 Valiant V100 2dr sedan
68 Plymouth Satellite 4dr
97 Ford F150 4x4

Not-running, "someday" projects...
70 Chrysler 300 2dr hardtop (no, not a Hurst but still a 440TNT option car)
54 IH R100 (short wheelbase...this will get teamed up with my L-110 eventually)
48 Dodge 2dr sedan
58 Dodge Coronet (I doubt I'll ever use it as a project but I have to list it since it was grandpa's car before the 69 Coronet)

And since Maddog posted one too...my first and only bike.
197? Honda-matic 360 (a CB360 with the worst transmission an engineer ever dreamed up)
I'm still lusting after a 450 Rebel thought...the ultimate Honda Twinstar!!!

1998 Rover 214si (first car!)
2002 Merc A160 (automatic, blah)
2008 Audi TT (love it, even done the Ring a few times in it)

There was a chap in my apartment complex in NZ who had an immaculate '67 Fastback GT, in a really bold red colour. I'd love to have an American Muscle like that some time. I'd also love a bike, but I've been forewarned that my parents and partner would injure me before the bike possibly did.

64 Chevy Impala
75 Toyota Celica GT
78 Ford Maverick
85 Chevy S-10
88 Chevy Beretta
90 Chevy Silverado 1/2 ton
91 Pontiac Firefly
92 Ford Ranger
97 Geo Metro
99 Chevy S-10
03 Chevy S-10

The only 2 I wish I still had are the 64 Impala and the 75 Celica. Both were written off in accidents unfortunately. The Maverick was deathtrap with a 302 engine and NO suspension. The 85 S-10 was my first brand new vehicle and the Beretta the only one I ordered from the dealer. The Ranger was used and was a pig on gas. My current 03 S-10 has 200,000Km but I hope to get a few more years out it.

This is when I got the baseline done before I started modifying it. To make sure it at least was putting out the 425hp at the crank it was supposed to. 18% driveline loss sucks though.

Shot from over 3 years and 23,000 miles ago when she was brand new from the dealer. At least she still looks as good as she used to. I am hoping to hang on to this car till I croak. Unfortunately the way people drive around here the only way to keep it safe is to leave it in the garage.

1975 Toyota Carolla SR-5...a piece of junk, but it was my first car so it was cool!

1974 Oldsmobile Omega...basically a 4 door Nova. Ugly, but man it was a screamer with the 350CU, 4-bolt main, 4-barrel carb, ram horn exhaust manifolds, mid-rise intake, duel exhaust.

1978 ACM Concorde...a piece of junk

1978 Ford Fairmont....the most solid and dependable car EVER. I flogged the snot out of that car and it never whimpered, never whined, and could go through snow that even the snow plows had trouble getting through. Drove it for YEARS.

1987 Chevy Celebrity Wagon..a true Old-Lady's car. She bought it new, drove it for 13 years. When I got it in 2000, it only had a little over 70,000 miles on it. I drove the tires off that car. I once passed a Ferrari and a Lambo on I-70 coming out of Columbus. I had that little 4 banger wound as tight as it would go and passed them at 90mph and made faces at them as I went by...a millisecond later, they passed me at close to the speed of sound. No big deal, I could still tell people I passed a Ferrari and a Lambo. I once challenged a guy in a Dodge Viper GTS coupe to a light to light drag. He was at the next light and changing radio stations before I could even cross the intersection. We both had a good laugh out of it and he said he respected my hot rod spirit.

1989 GMC Jimmy S-15 4X4....I ran that thing into the ground. 210,000 miles on the odometer, motor was untouched, replaced the factory fuel pump at 189,000 miles, the ball joints were shot, tie rod ends were shot, the 4 wheel drive system was shot, the heater motor and heater controls were dead, spiders lived in the dash. Motor and tranny were still rock solid...the rest of the vehicle was totally zombied. For a stock 4.3 V-6, that thing had pep...I could smoke both back tires (had a locking rear dif) on dry pavement, with new tires. I put many a Mustang and Honda CRX to shame with that black and gun metal cracker box.

1999 Pontiac Grand AM GT...I loved that car! Looked great, handled great. Had it to 140mph a number of times...totally stock. Could have gotten more out of it with some simple mods. Had to let it go to the bank when we found out about Deb's brain tumor.

1996 Chevy Corsica. I HATE HATE HATE HATE this car. It's small, it's ugly, it's one of the worst designs GM ever came up with. I HATE HATE HATE this car. But it gets us from point A to point B.

1957 Chevy sedan: Hand me down from the folks. Ran like champ,...started up even in sub freezing weather. Had Earl Schieb paint it navy blue for 30 bucks. Tossed on some 'baby moons.' Didn't have the money to get the chrome re-done,....Ace aluminum paint did the job!
1968 Chevy sedan: Another hand me down from the folks. Ran like a champ too but didn't have the character of the '57.
1972 Chevy Nova: First 'new' car. Had a 350 in it. Lousy on the turns but ran like a bat out of h*** on the straights. Wish I had bought the additional power steering package for it. However,...it helped build Poyeye forearms for me. Had a small gas tank. Seemed like I was pulling into a gas station all the time. No matter,...gas was CHEAP back then.
1978 Honda Accord hatchback: Great little car. Did a lot of hauling with it since you were able to drop forward and down the rear seats.
1986 Pontiac 6000 SE: Decent car. Had no love for it though. Realized I should have bought a SUV after buying this sedan.
1997 Chevy Blazer: Great vehicle. Never let me down. Like most of my cars,...only needed to replace the wear and tear items. Running like a champ until I traded it in in 2007. Just got tired of it. Still see a lot on the road today.
2008 Subaru Triebca: Current car. Bought it in Sept. of '07. About the same size as the Blazer with some new features. Hope it holds up as well as the 97' Blazer did for me.
As most of know,...changing the oil every 3,000 miles makes a big difference in the longevity of any vehicle.

Revising an old thread; I finally have a car to worthy of placement here. I am bit of a car nut but that wasn't reflected in my choice of car until now . Bought this 2008 Ford Falcon XR6 last year just before Christmas. Very impressd with handling, NVH and the 6 speed sequential ZF gear box

The very quick Turbo version of this would be my dream car but the running costs, insurance and purchase price was too much for me...probably too many speding tickets too. As it is the standard XR6 is plenty quick enough. http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l193/Naki_04/myxr6.jpg

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l193/Naki_04/xr6.jpg

Past cars?

1999 Mazda MPV (current) - wife's car to be replaced with something more economical soon
1998 Honda Accord (the Falcon replaced this) had it ten years and did 270,000 trouble free KMs with it
1993 Citroen ZX Volcane (yet another unreliable Euro but fun to drive)
1988 Nissan Sentra (bought as another cheap run-about but engine blew up)
1987 (?) Honda Civic LX 4 dr (cheap run about to replace company car after been made redundant - rusted away)
1996 Honda Civic LXi (company car)
1995 Nissan Bluebird (Written off after crashing off very steep driveway onto road after parking - nobody in it thank goodness)
1984 Fiat Uno 70SL (another unreliable Euro)
1987 Honda Civic GTI (reliable but rusted away)
1982 Ford Laser Ghia
1978 Toyoa Corolla SR Coupe (reliable as but rusted away)
1976 Hillman Hunter (unreliable)

Shot from over 3 years and 23,000 miles ago when she was brand new from the dealer. At least she still looks as good as she used to. I am hoping to hang on to this car till I croak. Unfortunately the way people drive around here the only way to keep it safe is to leave it in the garage.

Remarkable, Steve...

Here's what i'm driving for the last couple years with great enjoyment :

It's a Chrysler 300C Touring and, according to the dealer, was build by Daimler-Benz and as such not available in the US. It was build in 2006 and i bought it in 2009 with 40K (KM) on the clock. It is what i'd like to call my ' you only live once' car. I was driving a Voyager and went to dealer to look for a newer one when i stumbled over this baby which was on display in the middle of the showroom as ' car of the month'. I immidiately fell in love with it.

Although I can afford it it is totally out of my league because all cars i have owned before ( with exception of the Voyager ) were rusty old crates like Citroëns, Renaults, Fiats, Opels, and alike. Heck, this car is almost bigger than my house ! :icon_lol:

Here in Holland it's quite an eyecatcher, i feel like the Maharadja of Magador when driving it. :costum:

My hall of fame:

Before my enlightenment:
1. Ford Fiesta Mk. I (first car, rusty as hell, but I loved it, great little crate, very reliable and forgiving for a beginner)
2. VW Polo (horrible thing, first car with some kind of economy mode, engine trouble all the time...but it still had a partly wooden dash;-)
3. Opel (GM) Kadett city (loved the frugal design, but in terms of reliability a complete disaster)
4. Renault Rapid (van, rust after 3 years!, most uncomfortable carseats ever experienced, unreliable, but great for transport and holidays)
5. VW Golf 2 (Rabit), (unreliable piece of junk, but practical, cheap to run)
6. VW Golf 2 (Rabit), (reliable and cheap box)

enlightenment - driving can also be a fun, aesthetic and comfy experience, too;-)
7. Lancia Delta II, not always reliable and expensive, but the best drive in itīs class at the time, miss it still!
8. Lancia Ypsilon (840) LS, great cheap ride with top notch design and interiordesign. Great drive, but too mistreated by the former user!
9. Lancia Ypsilon (843) Momo Design, Great look, but a disappointment in terms of roadholding and drive.
10. Fiat Grande Punto (interlude;-), practical great car, but slightly sloppy assembled and well...too normal;-))
11. Fiat Panda 100HP, What can you say: THE BLAST! Never had so much fun in a car the size of a shoebox. But the sportsuspension took itīs toll on my old hurting back!!!
12. Lancia Musa, great ride and superior interior space for itīs size.
13. Lancia New Ypsilon (846). This car fits me like a shoe, fell in love with it!

Number 13 seems to be my lucky number;-)

Cheers,

The 300C Touring is the same thing as my car. In fact a lot of people in the US put the 300 bumpers on the Magnum SRT-8. I liked the way the Magnum looks though, so have not changed it. I think the predominant reason the 300C Touring never came to the states is because the Magnum was not a big seller. My car was one of only approximately 275 Magnum SRT-8's built, when compared to the Charger SRT-8 they built 3000 of those a year including the 1000 "Limited Edition" models. I guess since the thread is revived though I will say that we got rid of our Grand Prix GXP to get something that was better on gas. So in September we picked up our 2012 Chevrolet Volt (yes I am being serious). So far all is good on that front other than the constant stares people give while driving by. Ownership experience of it has been extremely positive, and with almost 4,000 miles on the clock it hasn't had to go to the dealer once for any reason. Before I get flamed I will point out that yes I know electricity is made from coal :icon_lol:, no the battery does NOT cost $10,000 to replace (is actually $3400 removed and a new one installed), no it will not spontaneously burst in to flames, and no my electricity bill has not sky rocketed. It is only about $20-$25 extra a month on my electric bill for the 1000 miles I drive it every month. In fact right now I am down to $0.03-$0.05 a mile depending on how fast I want to drive it, and yes it is fast. It is definately no Prius, but obviously is not Corvette fast either even though it feels like it sometimes with that 273LB FT of torque from a dead stop. :icon_lol:

A few rides I enjoyed, but also a few headaches & regrets!

1977 Toyota pickup - first car, but a piece of junk...contrary to Toyota's reputation!
1984 Chevy Citation - actually a very reliable car for me, despite its reputation
1981 Chevy Monte Carlo
1986 Buick Riviera T-type - great car that was somewhat ahead of it's time (see touchscreen digital dash)
1986 Ford Mustand 5.0 GT - the perfect car for an 18yr old with a heavy right foot
1986 Chevy Celebrity Eurosport
1984 Chevy Monte Carlo SS - of all the cars I've ever owned, this remains my favorite.
1977 Chrysler Newport 400cid - an absolute tank, but served me well and never left me stranded
1967 Ford Mustang - only owned for a few weeks before I sold it. Not a wise purchase!
1983 Oldsmobile Delta 88
1994 Ford Thunderbird
2003 Saturn 300 LS - my first "new" car, bought off the dealer's lot.
2003 Ford Taurus SES
2007 Toyota Camry SE

Morris Mini van in green 1970 - 1973. It had 220,000 miles on the clock when the rear sub-frame failed and I scrapped it.

Datsun Stanza to 1992. Rust bucket but it served it's purpose.
Company cars until 2007.

An update to my list on page 1.

Traded off the POS GMC Sierra for a 2006 Nissan Titan LE King Cab. I love this truck! All the bells and whistles are on it. Although I'll probably end up getting my first speeding ticket since 1976 in it.

'55 Chevy 150 2dr wagon, (not a Nomad) 265ci V-8 and powerglide. My parents gave it to me in high school as my first rebuild project in auto shop. Got it running, then starter went out. New starter cost more than my next car.

'53 Ford Customline 2dr coupe. 239ci V-8 Flathead, 3 on the tree. Paid $50 for it from my best friend in '65. Rebuilt/built up over the years. Had to give it up when I went overseas in USAF summer of '70. Wish I still had it.. My favorite car.

'71 GMC 3/4 ton pickup, 350 4bbl, 3 spd auto. Bought used in '72 from a San Diego,Ca dealer when I returned from overseas. Was their parts delivery vehicle. Drove this truck for almost 3 years, loved it. Had to give it back to bank when the job I got when I got out of service only paid me gross, what I said I needed bring home to cover my bills.

Company owned '63 Chevy 1 Ton service truck. I was the company mechanic. Large landscaping company. (Not the above company, I left it shortly after losing the GMC.)

'64 Rambler Ambassador 990H 2dr hdtp, 327/270hp V8, 3sp autoHP. Bought it from my foreman for junk price ($35) after engine fire from cam chain jump. I fixed it, and drove that car for over ten years, hard. Gave it to my sister (after I bought '82 Ford Van below,) with 250,000mi + on it. Her ex destroyed it when he got drunk.

'66 Rambler Rebel Classic 2dr hdtp 289ci V-8, 3spd auto. My new wife's first car. I worked at Ford dealership as mechanic. My '64 needed a rearend assy, (closed driveline,) and we had just traded in the '66. Bought it for $50, (engine very noisey, timing chain, (DUH!)) Bought it, changed rearends, fixed the one out of the '64, fixed the engine, and she drove it for 3 years till she punched a hole in the oil pan driving to the nearest driveable road. We lived on the road (2 lane highway) outside town, and it was being torn up and rebuilt. Piece of the broken up concrete went thru pan.

'66 Mercury Comet 2dr. 289 2bbl V8 auto. Wife's car to replace '66 Rambler. Drove it a few years. Her uncle bought it to use in a demo derby.

'82 Ford E-100 short cargo van. 300ci straight 6, 3 on the tree, no power anything. Not even a passanger seat. Needed something bigger than the Rambler to carry my first Giant Scale R/C airplane. (7 1/2ft wingspan.) Had 61,000 miles on it when I bought it from the dealership in '83,(parts delivery vehicle.) I just scrapped it out last year, with 260,000 miles on it. Never had the valve cover off it. Just rusted away.

'68 Chevy Nova 2dr, 250ci six, auto. Well used when we got it to replace wife's Comet. Drove it about 4 years till we sold it to neighbor when we moved to Calif. in late '88. It ran good. She liked it.

'81 Subaru 4dr 1800cc 2wd 4spd. Bought it from customer at 110,000 miles when customer didn't want to replace headgaskets. (Common.) Fixed and drove that car for almost ten years. Junked it at 240,000mi when the front body suspension mounts rusted away. Was still running good when driven to junk yard.

'81 Subaru 4dr 1800cc 2d auto. Bought same as above, for wife. Totaled when T-boned when she pulled out from stop sign without looking. Hit just behind front door, drivers side. She was unhurt.

'78 Plymouth Valiant wagon. For wife. POS. Slant six rarely started when cold. POS. Sister gave it to us. POS. Junked it. Did I say it was a POS! Somehow managed to limp along for almost 125,000 miles. POS.

'86 Ford E-150 long passanger van. Bought used for wife from dealership where I worked. Son finished it off when blown rear tire came thru rusted out body.

'78 Ford E-150 Passanger van. 351W V8. Still running and being driven. Gave to daughter, who sold it to her friend. Has almost 300,000 miles on it now.

'94 Ford Aerostar Extended AWD Van. 4.0 V-6, auto. Had bad tranny when traded in at 160,000. Rebuilt tranny and drove it till 2 years ago when rear springs rusted thru. When trying to replace them, the mounts fell out of body (Rusted out!) 252,000 miles on it when it went to scrapper. (Wish I still had it, loved that van.)

'86 Lincoln Towncar. My dad's car when he had to quit driving. (Macular Degeneration.) Nice car. For wife until electrical system problem I couldn't trace. (Turned out to be fuel pump.) Traded it in on her present vehicle.

'04 Ford Explorer, 4.0L SOHC V-6, 5spd auto 4wd. My present driver. I really like this one. Just went over 100,000 miles, still like new. Will drive it till it drops. It's just to small for my R/C hobby! Need a trailer.

'02 Pontiac Aztek 2wd. Wife's present driver. UGLY if you stand behind it. She likes it. 117,000 miles. Antilock brakes don't work(computer), fuel gauge doesn't work ($300 part), (She has run out of gas,) but it runs good, gets good mileage, 22-25mpg, (depending on her lead foot, lol.) We actually use it as the family driver. Extended warranty doesn't cover the stuff that goes wrong. We like it, but will probably trade it when something better comes along. (Read FORD!)

I've had 3 motorcycles, '66 Montgomery Wards (Italian made) 250CC Street, '70 Honda 350cc Twin SCL350 (Street bike with high pipes.) '70 Honda SLR 100cc 4stroke single on/off road. My fun bike when I was overseas. (Okinawa)

This will need to be a multi part reply. My very first 'car' was a 1938 Morgan-J.A.P 1000cc running [mostly] on Methanol and registered as a Motorcycle ...... only three wheels so it was regarded as Motorcycle and Side car 'Combination'. Following the entertaining 'Trike' was a 1947 Morgan 4/4 powered by a 1.5 litre Jaguar four [big mistake], a 1949 MG-TC that was seriously reworked into a blown 'Bob Dankie' replica, a 1954 MG-TF 1250 and to round off the square riggers, a 1955 MG-TF 1500. The three wheel Moggie was a blast but not girl friend friendly in the least, the Jaguar 4 in the other Morgan ate bearings regularly and finally a distributor problem killed it, [actually, a rod through the block killed the distributor!] I wrote the TC off in a big way [shame, it was a cracker of a car] and the best of the bunch was the TF-1500 once the XPEG block was bored out to 'somewhere' over 1600cc. :kilroy:

Not my car this time, but a news item I saw this morning that might be of interest.

This guy inherited his car from his father (http://www.metro.co.uk/news/887273-familys-morris-minor-still-going-strong-after-56-years), who got it from his father; the car has now been in the family for 56 years and is still going strong!! For the non-Brits, the Morris Minor is a bit of an icon over here, had a bit of a cliched reputation as the sort of car that would be used by district nurses doing their rounds in the countryside; it was built from the 1950's until 1970, in a variety of models - one of the more famous was the Morris Traveller (a bit like one of your station wagons) with it's wooden framework. The one in the news article is a very early model, with the split windscreen. The engine from the Minor was later turned sideways and used for the totally iconic Mini.

I've got less than fond memories of that damn engine though. I used to have a Mini (proper one, not the small BMW); the problem with using the lump from the Minor was it had to be turned sideways, which meant the distributor was at the front of the engine close to the ground - wet weather was never fun.

Good morning,

I like it, but the little "6-tube" doesn't have near the power as the V-8 did in the Tundra. I do miss that. Also miss being able to tote big stuff easily. Pick-em up trucks are useful!

1) 1985 Bronco II 2) 1997 Cheyenne 3) 1947 Chevy wrecker 4) 2005 GMC Sierra

That's guite a list.

What a list for sure, too many hobbies at times for me:

1970 Chevy Nova (1st car, dad got as a father/son project-owned it 2 weeks)
1969 Firebird (The trade for the Nova. High school car, kick myself in the rear everyday for selling it. Needed a new engine, sold for a bike. Actively trying to search the VIN and buy it back now)
1988 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z (bought off a Navy bud, surprised I didn't kill myself...fast car+young/dumb driver=bad)
2001 Chevy S-10 (Sensible choice since I needed to haul my motorcycles around)
1999 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 (missed the muscle car feel)
1998 Chevy Corvette C5 coupe (1st Vette and project car, too much project for my time/$$$)
2005 Toyota Tacoma (Needed a truck, great buy and plan to run into the dirt)

Motorcycles start with a slew of Kawasaki "Ninja" series (EX250, EX500) and dirt bikes.
1996 ZX-7R (Still have, track bike)
2008 Ducati 1098 (1st Italian twin and low flying fighter, only complaint not passenger friendly)

2012??? After my sentence in the "Stan", looking at used (have to pick only 1): boat/airplane/Harley/Find the long lost Firebird from my teen years)
