I was taking a look at the japanese order of battle for Midway, and in a web I saw that the stored ZEROS on the carriers, for the Midway Expeditionary Force (that is the name I ever saw), were in fact from the 6th Kokutai. Do anybody know if those ZEROS were from that kokutai really, or was a special unit raised for the Midway operation?
Another problem I found is that in the same web, there are two different numbers for that planes. In one sentence, it says 36 planes transported. But on the individual numbers for the four carriers, I get only 21 planes.
And a very strange thing, this web says that at least 3 of these planes were flown from the AKAGI as cap!!! Any idea of how the markings of these planes could look?
And the last issue: the same web says that 12 ZEROS from the 6th kokutai were on the JUNYO at the Aleutians!!!
The web: http://midway1942.org/order.shtml

A mistery for me...

Each carrier put up 27 aircraft. There were 9 Zeros 9 Vals 9 kates from each carrier with a total 108 AC in the 1st strike.I have the mission done with all the Ac in it.

Drop in the mission!!

But the zeros in that strike were all from the carriers airgroup, not from the Midway Expeditionary Force.

Bytheway, another strange thing... ZUIHO carried a mix of Claudes and Zeros... I knew that was the case on the Shoho at the Coral Sea, but didnīt know about the Zuiho at Midway!!!
