If it provides the odor/aroma they claim it does, I don't think I'd want too many in my garden.

They give no reason why they are cultivating this plant. If the seeds get away from them we may all have to live with that stench. Seems like their time could be better spent.

It also looks totally awful.

I'd perfer a bit of hemp in my back yard...the good kind of hemp. :icon_lol:

It's actually a pretty cool looking flower despite the aroma. This one makes the local news when it blooms and folks line up to see it. This picture shows off the flower itself a little better than the shot in the other article.

Flowers and plants that smell like dead stuff isn't all that uncommon. They use insects like flies that are attracted to dead stuff as their means of pollination. I run into one variety the Stinkhorn on a fairly regular basis around here. They really smell pretty rank. I'd post a shot of one, but it might get the thread locked. :)

Slightly OT but along the same line, I have one hedge that's over a 100' in length that when it's really ripe it gives off an odor exactly like every dog within 50 miles urinated on it all at the same time. It was so strong a few weeks back that I had one lady complaining that she thought there was a chemical spill and she was going to die if I didn't do something about the smell.
