..this aircraft, together with the rest of the 13th Bomb Wing, took off for a mission to Valkenburg, close to where I now live.
Other aircraft flew to other areas in the Netherlands, and more missions followed over the next days.
Many of the crews that participated in these missions later looked back on them as the best thing they did during the war.
What was the name of this operation, and what was their mission, do you know?

The RAF set this up (29th April to 7th May) and called it Operation Manna, not sure if the USAAF, who joined later (May 1st to May 8th), had the same name.

Operation Manna, reference to the biblical manna, or heavenly bread. They did fooddrops.
