Has anyone installed NVIDIA's 197.13 driver lately? I've just gotten it for my 6600XT card and it says to install it over your current driver, no need to uninstall it before installing the newer one you're installing. And they recommend it be done that way. Has anyone done it as they recommend? This is the first time I've ever heard of that.

Edit:
6800XT... not 6600.

Actually you can install over any driver, cause the new driver is built off the old driver, with just th e new codes added..

I have done it for a while like that with Nvidia..

ATI I uninstall and reinstall

...but just don't complain if you run into trouble afterwards. This may be the easiest procedure but the one causing the most trouble as well.

My driver changing procedure for Windows 7:
- Device manager, remove graphics card (along with drivers)
- Reboot
- Let default drivers install
- Reboot
- Run driver sweeper
- Reboot
- Install new driver
- Reboot
- Set up NHancer (if necessay)
- Reboot
- Run benchmark to see if driver is any better/correctly installed

No troubles so far with that.

Ok, and thanks guys.

I just installed Driver Genius, anyone using that? Ran the a scan with it lastnight and I've got 33 various drivers to update, including the NVIDIA driver. If you don't see me around for awile, you'll know why. :icon_lol:
