Awesome place you got there Caz,

Thanks for sharing.

I live in the city, I have to go to a trail path for a 6 mile walk.
Or I go to the park for a 3 mile lap.

Looks like you had a good time! I want to go for a nice walk tomorrow somewhere but I don't know where quite yet.

Hey All,

Really nice pictures Caz! The cemetery has me curious about what is on the headstones (in terms of dates). I really liked the first pic and couldn't resist a crop and a bit of orton filtering - which I've never done before - as another image.

Caz~

I enjoyed all of your pictures, but like EasyEd, I am curious about the cemetery picture. It's my favorite- call me weird, but I get such a sense of peace whenever I walk in one. I love looking at the old tombstones...

Thanks for sharing a little bit of your "neck of the woods" with us! http://www.tiptopglobe.com/skin/smile/s12627.gif (http://www.tiptopglobe.com/free-smiles-smileys-emoticons-blog-forum-email)

And of all the places I have lived in this country ... Virginia still holds a great deal of my heart .... those pictures show you why!

Ed, I love that crop, have seen your other Orton filtration pix. :salute:

For both you and C9G, the cemetery is an old family cemetery and is now on city land, on an area that was once used for garbage disposal. The family name was Sams and as you can see, some family member must still survive as the graveside is always manicured and kept clean. Many of the graves are simple stone markers as can be seen. The oldest date, which is seen on the foreground headstone, is 1901. It is said that two Confederate soldiers are buried in the graveside. There are 12 gravestone markers and four crosses in the fenced in graveside. What I assume was the old Sams home place still stands across a dusty old farm road from the cemetary, but it is rapidly becoming a relic.
