A nice Stuka it is; mine, it is not (I am freelance again these days). Kudos to the good team at FCS for this one.

It is indeed- it shares common features with the Hawker Heroes Hurri, but in IIC form.

Wow I can't believe the timing on this. Only recently I dusted off my old AlphaSim Stuka for FS9 and began to wish someone would develop one for FSX. And now here it is. It shall be mine. :jump:

There are some wierd colour schemes on the Hurri from those small shots, a bright red one and one with D-day stripes (but not on the wings). Are they your textures Dan? The shots do not enlarge enough to see very well.

d0mokun
April 26th, 2010, 14:04
They are- requested for this project. One is a radar calibration aircraft (the red one) and the other is interesting because of its stripes.

The Hurricane textures are similar in detail to the HH version.

Will there be an update for this model? I noticed on mine the bombs arn't properly modeled and the siren does not work, also there is a small light model it looks like floating next to the tail?

Apart from that its quite nice, I'm Enjoying it!

I do love the paint schemes this paint is one of my faves though!

Can you see the tail problem to the right of the red tail light, theres like a small clear what looks like a light lens modeled and just hanging in the air can this be fixed?

Good shots- as I am not formally involved, any technical questions (even any questions in general) should be directed to the developer. :wavey:

Thanks for the info Dan, never seen a red Hurricane before, but I am a sucker for odd schemes, and that is very odd!!

Has anyone thought that (from the screens) that the Stuka looks a bit strange?

To me ( I am no expert on Stukas) it looks like a very early variant, but is painted as a late model. It looks rather upright and square. Have any owners any thoughts? FCS have released variable quality packs before, remember the Hawker Heroes Typhoon??

There definitely seems to be something amiss with the model, particularly in the nose and canopy areas.

I havent really noticed I personally think it looks fine, but I'm not really a Stuka expert, I did think the nose was slightly odd but I think its because it is the early variant with the early engine, the quality is fine though it's way better than the Typhoon they released with Hawker Heroes the VC is perfectly fine, the exterior too apart from those 2 graphical errors I have pointed out in my previous post! As for the Hurricaine it's the same quality as the one supplied in Hawker Heroes and flies quite nicely. :salute:

I've just been looking into the nose of the Stuka and this is similar to the variant we have the prop looks different though ...

You guys may be thinking of the G1 with the 1500hp Jumo engine seen below here ...
5909
As you can see it has a bigger spinner, smaller radiator, different canopy with the hump in the center and a longer nose!
Could this be what you guys mean?

There was a Cfs2 sound/gauge add-on for the siren effect when diving that might be useable. I'll give it a go when I buy it (soonish).

Nice one mate, I'll try and have a look for it and try it too, we really need the Horn of Jericho for the Stuka like!

this is for FSX? or a stand alone package?

It's one installer for FS9 or FSX. As well as the Stuka & Hurricane you get a few missions in the FSX version

the siren does not work,

The siren is there, dive.wav in the Sound folder it's referenced as the wind sound in the sound.cfg. It seems to work from inside the cockpit in the FS9 version but not in spot view and not at all in FSX. The sound folders & sound.cfg's in both versions are identical.

Roger
April 27th, 2010, 10:51
The siren does work in vc mode in FsX but as it's under Wind Sound it is only available in the cockpit. I wouldn't have thought it would be too difficult to use a gauge referencing deployment of the speed brakes to have the sound in spot view.
It would appear that the rear of the main bomb is missing or transparent?

However it is nice to have a native Ju87 in FsX.

While I don't have the product, there is no reason why you can't have the internal wind/whine-sound on the outside as well. You will need to have two entries like this in the sound.cfg file:

Interior:

[WIND_SOUND]
filename=
flags=0
viewpoint=1
(various parameters)
link=WIND_SOUND.1

Exterior:

[WIND_SOUND.1]
filename=
flags=0
viewpoint=2
(various parameters)

OK i've bought it as well:wiggle:
No lights apart from VClight
No "historic" tail markings
No siren outside of aircraft
Bombs not showing properly, but as Roger said
However it is nice to have a native Ju87 in FsX.

Yeah it does need Swasticas to be historically correct like I agree, and I did hear the siren in a dive from the VC now to get it outside too!

A few more shots!

If my explanation above doesn't help, if someone can post the wind sound entry from within the sound.cfg file, I'll provide the slight modification and second entry needed to make it heard from the outside as well.

Thank you Roger...for everyone who wants to add the siren to the exterior, put these two entries into the sound.cfg file, replacing the currently existing wind_sound entry:

[wind_sound]
filename=dive
flags=0
viewpoint=1
rparams=200.000000,1.000000,520.000000,2.500000
vparams=200.000000,0.000000,520.000000,100.000000
minimum_volume=4500
maximum_volume=9500
minimum_rate=0.60
maximum_rate=0.90
minimum_speed=200.0
maximum_speed=520.0
link=wind_sound.1

[wind_sound.1]
filename=dive
flags=0
viewpoint=2
rparams=200.000000,1.000000,520.000000,2.500000
vparams=200.000000,0.000000,520.000000,100.000000

This is very simply written, so feel free to make refinements if you deem them necessary, such as to the "r-rate" params and "v-volume" params.

In the lines that read 200.000000,1.000000,520.000000,2.500000 - this means that at 200 mph, the rate will be exactly what it is in the stock sound file, and 520 mph, the rate of the sound file will be multiplied by 2.5 times. These figures control the pitch of the sound you hear, so it will start out normal, and get ever so higher in pitch as you approach 520 mph.

In the lines that read 200.000000,0.000000,520.000000,100.000000 - this means that up to 200 mph, the volume of the sound will be 0, and by the time you reach 520 mph, the sound volume will be what I believe indicates 100% by that figure.

That's great to hear! I was rather fearful that due to a lack of responses, it wasn't working out. :)

I tested it on an airplane that I do have before I posted - I found out a while back, that you have to have rparams and vparams in place, in order for the interior/exterior combination to work. Both the rate and volume parameters can be forever tuned, added onto, to make it just as you want it for a particular plane - for instance, you can create a sound-arc of sorts, through adding various airspeeds and the volumes/rates you want at those speeds.

What is it that makes you lay down your hard earned for this particular rendition of an aero plane?
Don't get me wrong, I really want to know what rings your bell with this one !?

Well Mathias until you make one, it's the only native Stuka out there and I've always had a soft spot for the 87 ever since my Dad told me what it was like to be dive-bombed by them at Tobruk!

Well I'm with Roger on this I'm sick of waiting for a native Stuka, so this came up for 24 quid including a Hurricaine so I snapped it up and yeah it isn't perfect by any standard of the word, but it is fun to fly and its all we've got in FSX at present and as My grandfather was also on the recieveing end of one in 1940, it's nice to have one in my collection!

Call me gullible I spose. But curiosity brings me to this question. Compared to the Alphasim Ju87 Stuka (fs2004)..how does it compare? Has anyone tried them both to see?

I've got the freeware Hurricanes by Robert Sanderson for FS2004 and I'm very pleased with them. And I'm tempted to buy the Stuka vs Hurricane, if in fact it's modeled by the same person. Is it?

Thanks for the comments, guys!
So it's the personal linkage to a piece in history for the most part?
I'm sure it's good value for the money btw, in particular since you get two at the price of one.
What surprises me is that nobody's talking about the Hurricane in the package.
I had expected the opposite, granted that we are on a mostly anglo-saxon forum.

Agreed Mathias but this the third variant of the Hurricaine FCS have released and while it is ok it is not anything special, where as the Stuka is a much rarer model with a much. More infamous history, plus I personally just love all German WW2 aircraft, while British aircraft obviously are the ones we Brits are brought up thanking for winning the battle of Britain, it is infact the german ones that people who know anything about engineering and flying actually love more, that may just be me though!

I agree with you. I have always marvelled at the ingenuety (cant spell) of the designers on both sides but the germans were so progressive.
