That's not a misprint! Yes, the USAF launched a hypersonic glider that reached 13,000 mph!

I traversed a 4,100 mile distance in half an hour!

Re-entry gliders perhaps? Life boats?

I guess somebody needs to pick up the slack of exploration and delivery since NASA seems to be cut off from funding.

But then that's a red herring as well since someone said he wants NASA to go to Mars ... so go figure. How they gonna do that without funding??

And with that tap dance I'm done here. :wavey:

13,000 mph is moving, especially for a glider!!!

They launched this craft today, and its going good so far, but no info is coming out for what it is supposed to do? Would be one heck of a weapons delivery system though, lol

This news release has odd timing for me. Is it just a coincidence that X-37 and this 'separate project' are going on right now?

I thought both the space shuttle and the X-37 were 13,000 mph gliders?

Falcon is a DARPA programme: a series of autonomous turbine/rocket/scramjet vehicles to explore the hypersonic regime.
It's new territory, even communication through the plasma surrounding the craft presents unique problems.
