Back to the actions that I mentioned in your DA50-200/Gunfighter thread.
The one I've had the most fun fiddling with is Kents_B&W_4.zip.
It's an action set by Kent Christianson and looking at it's instructions I bet it'll work with your older version of PS.
I got it over at www.atncentral.com , but there's all sorts of other goodies to browse through too.

I threw it into CS4 and did a quick butcher job on your pic from the other thread. didn't spend a lot of time on the tweaks, pretty much went with the default presets.

Not sure what your trying for but I took a quick run at this just for fun. I use Artizen HDR so I gave the original a light HDR treatment then a curves adjust then converted to black and white. This is a really nice pic to work with - hope you don't mind.

I think it would look nice with a little vignetting to frame the ship. You can add/remove vignette using the lens correction filter.
