Big Boy Comes to Town!!!

This is one of the biggest planes in the world... it's a Russian-built AN124. This particular one stopped in Duluth today (arrived from Brize Norton RAF base in England) for fuel and customs. It was carrying 3 helicopters, on it's way to Los Angeles... It's wingspan is larger than the Boeing 747-400 and can carry a large load... You'll see a photo in the group of the rear half of the aircraft - Patsy is standing next to one of the 4ft-tall landing gear!!!

Patsy and I got to ride in the van out to it, but prior to that we waited in the lounge where we met some nice pilot guys who flew the the plane in the first photo - a Hawker business jet (N842QS).

I also took some misc photos. The blue and white King Air is of interest - it's callsign is "FlightCheck 80." The plane is an FAA aircraft used to check navaids all over the USA, to make sure they are reliable and functioning properly. The other smaller King Air (photo with props spinning) is owned by a mining company based out of Duluth. I also snagged a quick photo of "the office" - a view I don't see often hehe.
