View Full Version : FCS Lancaster update

I have recently asked FCS if there are any more updates planned and the answer is no. There must be a lot of disappointed people like me who probably think this potential winner has never reached its zenith. Oh well perhaps someone else will have a try at a Lancaster. By the by I recently purchased their Wellington. There are glaring errors in the markings and again it could have been a winner.
Finally I wonder if some of the so called experts who reviewed these models actualy knew what they were talking about. I thought they did and was disappointed.http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/images/icons/icon9.gif

Out of interest, what exactly is wrong with it?

If it's just a case of the paint being wrong that can be remedied by anyone who fancies a go.

The Mk1 version was left without lights (even though the entries are there in the cfg) after the first patch. I hope at least this will be remedied.

Check your cfg again, I found that there was double and half entries such as

[lights]

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing

[lights]

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing

light.0 = 3, 1.166, -50.431, 3.857, fx_navred

and make sure it looks like this

[lights]

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing

light.0 = 3, 1.166, -50.431, 3.857, fx_navred
light.1 = 3, 1.166, 50.431, 3.857, fx_navgre
light.2 = 3, -1.366, -50.429, 3.742, fx_navwhi
light.3 = 3, -1.366, 50.429, 3.742, fx_navwhi

light.4 = 10, 14.00, 0.00, 4.43, fx_FCS_Lanc_vcld,
light.5 = 4, 18.32, -1.81, 3.26, fx_FCS_Lanc_vcls,
light.6 = 4, 18.32, 1.81, 3.26, fx_FCS_Lanc_vcls,
light.7 = 4, 19.16, -0.26, 3.78, fx_FCS_Lanc_vcls,
light.8 = 4, 19.16, 0.26, 3.78, fx_FCS_Lanc_vcls,
light.9 = 4, 14.72, 1.83, 2.60, fx_FCS_Lanc_vcls,

There are still issues with certain VC gauges ~ for example the boost gauges are still reading way off ~ (and a couple other issues which I don't remember off the top of my head) which were reported after the first upate. I was told at the time those issues would also be addressed in another patch. I hope FCS haven't gone back on their word.

...was that 'orrible' yellow cockpit reflection ever fixed? It's about the only thing that keeps it in my reserve hangar.

Me too, I mean its a really nice model and I'm personally stumped at why they won't just make this one as good as it can be, I mean the B-17 has been done a few times now to varing degrees of standard, why has the Lancaster never been done to the same level I wonder, I mean its the most Iconic aircraft in history you could say, done more to win the war in europe than any other Bomber, was used far longer than any other ww2 bomber and is the best looking by far! :salute:

I'm sure someone did do a fix but I can't seem to find it for you at the moment I'm afraid.

Bruce you're a star!:ernae:
I understand the qualms of the Roy Chadwick purists but I feel this model captures, for me, the "Spirit" of the Lancaster bomber exceedingly well...and now I've got my lights back on the Mk1 I'm happy to fly it again.
There is an interior bitmap that has the window reflections and all you have to do is black-out the yellow bits and then no more reflection. There were also a couple of white lines behind the panel that irritated me and finding the correct texture file these were eliminated too.

The patch did address the yellow spot. I love the repaint above, where is that from ?

Is it me, or did the patch reduce the roll rate ? It seems horribly slow to roll now.

Hopefully this week I'll be uploading 7 Textures for the Lanc, If hospital visits allow.
