Hello All,
Been a bit busy with the start of historic racing season here and broken cars.
But had enough time to make a new plane and re-do an older one, Sukhoi Su-2 and LaGG-3's. They are at the beta test stage and should be up in a few weeks. snadydog has the Dp's to perfection, with panels by Marty and sandydog to finish them. Attached are some shots.

Great news Thicko! These will go right into my "Ostfront" installation.
You've been a bit scarce and I'm glad you navigated to the new server. Hope the racing season goes well for you and you don't break any more cars.

The Pe-8 has been around for about three years in a sim called Fighter Aces, along with a slew of other Russian planes.

The SU-2 versions are up now at SimVation and simnetwork, with SHO still changing over to the new server, it will be in the next few days before it gets here. The LaGG-3 series will follow quick and not a bad thing for the delay either.
Watchdog22 has done an excellent skin of Captain Leonid Galchenko series 4 LaGG-3 and I have included it in the files. Sandydog has added 3 extra DP's to take the Lagg-3_1 from series 1 to series 4, with better user options as well. The series 11 and 35 series of the LaGG-3 are ready as well.
One of my long time freinds and beta tester , Ignatz101,e-mailed me and said:
Thanks very much, they are both wonderful to blast away at. I always wanted a 500 plane career, just like the Germans on the Eastern Front.
One question, can I set the game at the level of pilot ability that would simulate the caliber of actual Soviet pilot during this period? How about scared XXXXless, no experience and half drunk.
I had to reply:
Sorry CFS2 does not have a setting for Ignorant Un-educated Russian Farm Boy, that I can tell. I might be able to add an instruction book in the pilots hand to the model file, or the Vodka bottle, to distract them! Or did they drink wing anti-ice fluid?

Thanks for thumbs up on the Su-2's! I just up-loaded the LaGG-3 series planes to SimV and simnetwork as SHO must still be transfering things to the new server. I will up-load here, at SHO, when it becomes available again. I have been getting all favorable comments on the LaGG-3 planes from the testers. Boatz has added many series correct comments which have been incorporated in to the model files. Sandydog has done much work with the DP's adding 4 DP's to the series 1 model to cover user preference and the series 4 gun arrangement. Watchdog22 has made a skin for Captain Leonid Galchenko's personal plane, commander of the second squadron, 145 IAP based at Murmansk 1941. This is also included in the series 1 LaGG-3.
Ajax is the main inspiration to up-load the Su-2 and the Lagg-3 series, as he is working an up-coming Stalingrad Campaign. I just hope the LaGG's don't shoot down too many Bf-109's.
Thanks to all that have helped, tested, and made these planes what they are!
Cheers Thicko

This Lagg has been among one of the missing CFS2 fighters for awhile, now if only we could get a La-5, and La-5FN. ;)

Hey Thicko! I was trying out your LaGGs last night and I found alittle problem. If I have both your series 1 and series 11 in my active hanger in CFS2 and I try to fly the series 1 LaGG-3, the game selects the Series 11 for me to fly. But I can fly the Series 1 if the Series 11 is not in my hanger. Any idea what is causing this?
Sandydog
June 16th, 2005, 13:51
Take a REAL close look at all of the filenames and make sure that they match in each folder. There are enough .dps out there to confuse the game selector if one is misnamed, for example. LaGG-3 Series one files are labelled LaGG-3_1; Series 11 end in _11. The aircraft .cfg file 'sim' line near the top is also critical to making the proper selection; It should match all of the other designated files in the folder.

Mine does the same here, while it doesn't on sandydogs. I think I put it in the Lagg-3_11 readme. I was just deleting the _11 when I wanted to test the _1. and it worked fine.

HI! I'll throw in my 2 cents as well ... I'd like to see a nice brace of LA-5 .... LA-5FN .... LA-7 ... LA-9 (late-war ""DD" ..."P" ... "T" ... "U") ... LA-11 ... and new IL-2 variants .... and a Pe-8 just for the heck of it. Thicko has the knack and I hope he continues to be our "Soviet Aircraft Factory #1".

Bill,
An early La-5 is planned, and I just too a look at the Il-2 that I have had for years now and it needs to be re-done as well. So just keep the faith, in that they will come.

Hi all, thanks to Thicko for a great new series of planes, I've got a repaint for Lt Shchipov of 9.IAP, Black Sea 1944 in progress and am wondering if anyone has more definitive info on the plane, the Lagg 3 series is a goldmine for repainters and I feel e few more coming on now that I have a template done,
Cheers

I feel a CFS2 "IL2 theater collection of aircraft coming"!:bump:
Awesome repaint so far! It will be great to see more. And to add to the list of Red Star aircraft I'd like to see, we do need a new Mig-3. The current one we have, wghile good, is old, and besides later versions of the Mig-3 are not represented in CFS2 at all.

Hi,
LAG-5FN & LAG 7 are available from DAG Productions
http://cfsfrance.altajeux.com/DAG/
A really nice LAG 7 is also available that was produced by SIMTech, I think it is available at AVSIM. It was originally released as payware and SIMTech later released it to the community.

any way to fix those DAG spinners? Those LAs, minus the SimTech one, look like they are a pretty old build and it would be great to see something newer done.

Looks wonderful erafitti! Go ahead and up-load. I should change the read-me in the up-coming planes to allow up-loads of modifications. The only reason I have it the way it is, because I might want it!
I sense that many here feel that some of the older Soviet planes for CFS2 need some up-dating. For sure the early LA-5 will be done, as will a new IL-2. It will for sure need a better DP than the original. I think the original is way too easy to shoot down, not the "flying tank" the Gremans called it. I will also consider a Mig-3 and a Yak-3 for future projects. Good to hear that many here enjoy the LaGG-3 series and the SU-2's, Have fun!
Cheers Thicko
