Thanks!

Checksix: No.8 Sqn RAF is in the work

Peter12213: See attched pictures, but a cammo version is unfortunately impossible as the top wing is mapped as one, wich is to say that the top (right) wing will be axactly as the left wing

wiltze: Finnish AF in the works

Jankees: Thanks! Didn't notice that :wavey: correction shall be made

Italflier: See attached pics

Leif: Sure, i'll upload at the pond :wiggle:

Hy Henry!.....

I'm speechless! Looking at the pictures, I nearly hear the sound of this birds passing above my head when I was a kid! They made a very particular whistling noise. If I remember well, they flew these machines until the early seventies here in Sitzerland!

Simply great, thanks a lot!

It's a great metal texture, but I'm not sure it's really appropriate as the Vampires are more painted silver than natural metal. I'll be very happy to fly them either way though :salute:

He makes a good point. Not sure which parts were made of wood myself (I'm guessing the wings), but it'd probably be better to make them look less metallic if you can find out which bits were wood and which metal.

The booms and tail sections were metal and the rest wooden afaik.

Edit: Seems that the wings were metal too.....

" It was built in two halves and from the nose back to just aft of the cockpit (the point at which the engine was attached) was a composite of a layer of balsawood between two layers of moulded plywood. Although wooden construction on a jet fighter may have seemed archaic, especially when many piston engine fighters of the day were being made of metal, the end result was very strong and (more importantly) very lightweight. The mid mounted, cantilevered wing was of all metal construction built around a single spar and covered with a flush riveted Alclad (a heat-treated aluminium, copper, manganese, magnesium alloy) skin. The all-metal tail booms carried the twin vertical stabilisers and rudders and a single tailplane and elevator between them, mounted high enough to be clear of the jet exhaust"

Speaks Volumes that you put a FREEWARE VC into a PAYWARE model Peter

And oh yes how many hours do you have in Vampires IRL?

I find it rather amusing that people here seem to be quite content to modify other people hours of work to suit their needs even when asked not.

A fair amount mate, I'd say at least 300 hours flying in sims and 1000's of hours reading about it, trust me matey I know this jet like the back of my hand the first time I sat in one I was 3 and on my Dads lap! I used to go to Sunderland aircraft musuem when I was a kid every sunday week after week and sit in one, so much that when some yobs decided to set fire to part of the museum I got my photo taken in the local news paper with the owner wearing full flying kit lol, the title was "Peter takes control" so yes its fair to say I know the Vamp mate! Actually I'll be honest It was a Hawker Hunter my pic was taken in because the Vamp was quite old and didn't look that good, but I just went back after about 16 years to the museum saw Graeme the owner he reconised me after a bit banter and I got straight back in the cockpit lol, I'm going to post some shots soon, but i didn't have a camera with me when I went last week, I'll try and show the article too my Dad should still have it as well as many rare old birds!

I nearly had a ride in one once, but instead went for the JP instead, which I found rather boring, compared to the Piston Provost. As this model has been tested by past Vampire pilots, I truly believe that it is as close to the real thing as we can truly expect.

I look forward to the next creation to emerge from the same 'factory'!!

Best wishes,

Martin

Well that attitude isn't going to get anybody anywhere. Frankly, if a developer said I couldn't modify their files for my own personal use, then I'd either ignore them or refuse to support them by not purchasing their addon. What I do in the privacy of my own home should be of no interest to any developer.

Henry - you're a master!

Just stumbled across this thread - I had no idea you had some Vampires cooking in the pot ... eagerly awaiting these. I know you're just coming out from underneath all the T-bird work, so I won't even bother asking when we might see them.

Whenever they're ready, the'll be magnificent. Nice to see operator paints from around the globe - nice breadth of coverage. I never knew the RCAF had that crazy yellow scheme! Nice to see the metal schemes - I'm in awe. It would be a delight if a Royal Navy scheme worked it's way into the set - but it looks already like a killer set of paints.

Many thanks!

ps - your AS Starfighter and Piglet Skyraider repaints get very regular use - they are 10/10!
