I have off and on been working on the Guadalcanal Campaign for about 5 years but have never been happy with the missions because I didn`t have the detailed info I needed to build historic missions.Well I found the info I needed but now I can`t get on the sight anymore.The best info I have found was John B Lundstorm and The First Team ,Guadalcanal Campaign.I was able to get the detailed info up untill last night but now all I am getting are blank pages.I have done one surch after another and all that comes up is buy this book.I am on a small Fixed income and due to extra expences can`t get the book at this time.If anyone could help with any detailed info about the airbattles flown between Aug 20 1942 to Oct 16 1942 I sure could use it.An other problem I am having is that the AI always want to attack from the six o`clock possition.I can`t get them to do any high side passes and continue back to the airfield with out then going back to there last waypoint and then going home.I could sure some help there to.Thanks in advane for any help.

Look at this one;
http://www.nps.gov/archive/wapa/indepth/extcontent/usmc/pcn-190-003117-00/sec2d.htm

maybe contacting the MArine Corps Musuem or even USNI might help in gaining access to some.

There is also a site at www.steeljawscribe.com (http://www.steeljawscribe.com k)whom seems to have a lot of aviation history on it. It is a blog site. Maybe they can steer you.

Use this search engine instead of Google.
http://www.scroogle.org

Play with the parameters. I find it gives better controlled info.

Here is a military thesis written on Guadalcanal. Cactus Air Force starts in Chapter 4

This site actually gives almost all afteraction reports that have been digitalized. Quite interesting

bob,
I am in DC. I will see if I can get by the Navy Yard and go to the USMC museum and get what you need from the museum. If I get it, I will PM you for your mailing address.

After going over what detailed info I have, I have found that I am close to what went on durring an attack on the enemy bombers That raided Cactus every day that weather permitted.The standing order that Maj. Smith put into effect was to dive into the bombers get as manny as possible come out the bottom and if the escort fighters were not yet over the bombers climb up and do it again if possible.If the escort was over the bombers then dive away head for a cloud and then home.
